Penn State scandal (merged)

I think there's a legitimate case for pressing criminal charges against him for not calling the police.

I don't think there is. I've heard multiple legal analysts on ESPN state that Paterno fulfilled his LEGAL obligations in the matter by reporting it to his superiors.

As previously stated, MORAL obligations are another story entirely...

Just listened to Paul Poszluzny (sp?) on Mike and Mike. He stated that during his tenure at PSU (which was 2003ish), he routinely saw Sandusky in and around the facilities in conjunction with the 2nd Mile. This is AFTER the 2002 incident that Paterno was made aware of...just a year earlier. And yet he still allowed Sandusky on campus...

Everything Paterno is getting is well-deserved. And probably not enough.

Joe Pa reporting it to the AD vindicates him criminally, but certainly not morally. Pretty sickening on many levels.

Not if he changed the story McQuery gave him when he went to the AD, and based on what McQuery said he saw, and what JoePa told the AD there is a chance this happened.

They're all scum, but ESPN was getting bent out of shape this morning that he was fired via phone. Really, that's more important than enabling a child molestor, how JoePa (the enabler) got fired?

McQuery met with the AD a week after.

I wouldn't be surprised if down the road we find out that Paterno had much more knowledge of what was going on. I don't think this is over for him by a longshot regarding the legal implications.

their stupid, morally bankrupt, or both

An individual who adheres to a system of morals that is different than your own does not make that individual morally bankrupt.

What Paterno did was, in my assessment, in complete accordance with Kantian Morality.

Joepa is either totally senile or a freak himself. Just shows how out of touch he is either way. He isolated himself so bad he didn't even know right from wrong anymore. In my opinion he hasn't known how to rightly function since the 80's. He was a good man in the 60's and 70's and 80's then went into his shell. But no doubt he is 1000% wrong.

If a grad assistant saw this, and didn't kick the SH*T out of this old man what a total PU**Y!!!!! I would have smashed this guys head into wall, then called the cops!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So your assessing the situation? How lucky we are. Well my assessment of your assessment is that you do not need to be kids if you think what the old bastard did was right. I would love to see you face to face with a victim and say you think he did enough, you are pathetic and whoever gave birth to you should be embarrassed. Again, I will say, you are just as bad as the enablers. Judging by your completely thoughtless post, you must 18.

give me a break. good lord

Is America morally bankrupt because we did not step in to prevent the atrocities in the Soviet Union, China, North Korea, Rwanda, Liberia, etc.?

Or, you have a different standard of morality for an individual person and a group of persons?

America certainly had reports of atrocities being committed in all those locations and certainly had the power to step in and prevent them in at least Rwanda and Liberia.

But because he adheres to morality that is more in line with yours, he is a beacon of morality?

Less reading and more common sense may be of benefit to you.
You say covering up child molestation is in accordance with some bs morality that you seem to adhere to?
Smoke more hookah man. Your posts are foolish.

Penn State Athletic Director Tim Curley, senior official charged in Jerry Sandusky investigation; Joe Paterno will not be charged, sources say | PennLive.com

Wow, this tarnishes JoePa career I believe. Didn't expect to hear this kind of thing coming from a program I always respected.

I hate to be the one to predict this but I feel that Sandusky will end up committing suicide, rather than going to jail. He will leave a note, to the effect that he
didn't want to put his family through more embarrassment.
JoePa's entire life was wrapped around P.S.U. I feel that his health will deteriate and before January 2013, he will pass away.
