Per Twitter Tee Declines

Please. Do you really think Graham took the job thinking Dooley was going to be the head coach long term? The guy was clearly awful at everything, and since the day he was hired, it was only a matter of time before his inevitable termination. Graham, has a great reputation as a running backs coach and had nothing to worry about.

Taking a job because you think the coach is about to get fired is the most asinine thing I've ever heard. I love Graham, he's done a great job, and his merits speak for themselves. He may not have seen Dooley as long term, but that's not WHY he came here.

I don't buy into anything on this site anymore after the GRUDEN mania and everything on here was dead wrong. When I see a new WR coach announced I will know the truth..

Losing Tee aint that big of a deal. Yeah we wanted him here just because he has UT ties not because of anything special that he has done as a coach. If he dont want to be here screw him. Butch tried. He did what the fanbase wanted.

I applaud Jones for reaching out to Tee. He didn't want it , don't blame him. Now lets move on. It's not as if its really goingbto change anything.

It doesn't matter who got the job, Tee would have been interviewed. Whether Tee came or not depended on who got the job.

Here's how I'm guessing it went down. Tee had the job offer Saturday or Sunday. He wanted to take it and tried to sell it to his wife and brought her to knoxville to see if she would like it here and I guess she didnt. Hollywood trumps Dollywood.

See u tee. You really did something special this year loosing all the games you and the coaches did with all your 4 and 5 stars guys you had.

Yeah, good luck to Tee Martin. Hope it turns out well for him.

However, I don't think he should ever be offered a position with the university again. He obviously didn't want to come back to the family and be part of the rebirth of the program, so that's it. Shouldn't get another offer. Ever.

No need to hate the guy. After all, he did bring us a championship in 1998. But it is appropriate to remember that we weren't good enough for him during the tough times (now). When we're rolling again and his new pal, Lane Kiffin, has been either fired or has thrown him under the bus for some reason, Tee should not get a chance to come to Knoxville to officially be part of the program.

Continue to honor the guy when we have events commemorating the 98 team. Continue to hold on to the good memories of when he was a Volunteer. No need to trash him and his family on the message boards. He's a good guy who was a good player for us.

But don't forget this gesture, people. Instead, remember a guy like Jay Graham who was in a cushy spot in South Carolina, doing very well with Marcus Latimore ... but who then jumped at the chance to come home to Knoxville. THAT is what I'll remember. It stands out in sharp contrast to the decision that Tee Martin appears to have made today.

If you were excited the last two days thinking Tee could return...

And you got extremely pissed and/or upset he wasn't coming...

Think about what went through his kids in Knoxvilles heads.
Dang!

Think about how excited they were thinking daddy was coming home for Christmas and they could have something to hang their pride of their daddy on, other than his legacy.

Legacies don't replace daddy's absence.

Sorry kids!
lets hope Travis Henry never becomes a sucessful football coach.

The reason he didn't come is because he is scared of the challenge. USC is a very easy recruiting ground. UT isn't. He's a coward now as he was in 98. That's why he never amounted to nothing. He won 98 NC on peytons team

wow - you are so stupid it's painful:finger3:

I agree completely. I have no doubt he took the job for sentimental reasons. However, I'm betting he was expecting Tennessee to eventually turn things around, which was obviously never going to happen with Dooley.

Yea I would say his wife had a hand in him staying at USC. She left LA it was most likely 80 degrees and came to a rainy cold knoxville and she put her foot down. The reason he turns job down is because well........... we all know how that works.

Tee Martins quote.....
"I just feel like we have a bright future," Martin said about the Trojans. "I made a commitment to my players at USC. It feels great to be wanted, but I feel like we are doing something special where I am and I do believe we have a bright future.""Timing does have a lot to do with it," Martin said. "Out of respect to my current staff and players because of the hard work we've put in, I just didn't feel like the time was right to make the move. You never know what the future holds and future opportunities may be different, but my situation at USC is special."

As much as I like Tee, I really do hope that the Trojans don't have a bright future, and that Kiffin gets fired. With that said, I also am disappointed in Tee's decision, and hope that he regrets his decision also in a year or two.

He obviously should have gotten her a funnel cake. You can't resist funnel cakes.

Sad that his commitment to his players are more important than his commitment to his kids(twins) in Knoxville. There is not one thing in life that I value more than my kids including my wife and I know she feels the same about me! Every parent should!

I'm not upset about him not taking the VOLS coaching offer because it's his decision and I respect that. I appreciate everything he has done for you UT. I just feel sorry for his kids. What message does that send to them?
