Pete Carroll to the Seahawks? (merged)

IMO if this is true then Pete sees the writing on the wall with violations with McKnight amongst other things.

What he said.

I'm slowly starting to think the NCAA might actually do something to them this time. Pete may want to get out while the getting is good.

i don't think they would have torpedoed the basketball program like they did unless they were seriously concerned about football sanctions.

their first calls will be to jeff fisherand del rio.
there you go. Fisher has said something in the past about finishing his coaching career at USC. or something like that, but I doubt he would go now.

only way he takes it is if he thinks the ncaa hammer is coming down.

their first calls will be to jeff fisher and del rio. then probably riley at OSU, sarquisien, and kiffin/harbaugh. garrett was apparently no big fan of kiffin though.

What about Chow?

Yeah, he is awful ( rolls eyes, similar to Dangerfield in Caddyshack, with the hat incident ).

I know his name and the universities name, among other things brings recruits to the area but I was under the impression that he wasn't the guy going out and actively snatching up recruits. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm sure Phil would like to be considered for the USC job. He'll work like heck for the Trojans. As far as Carroll perhaps leaving, I would bet it's HC/GM or HC/VP type situation. I knew Mora would never last there, I don't think he's much of a coach, but I'm suprised it was a one season deal. IMO, if the Seahawks weren't certain that Carroll would take the job, (HC plus GM type control) knowing that is the only kind of offer he'd probably consider, they wouldn't have already fired Mora. Who replaces Carroll at USC?? I'd wager against Kiffin or Orgeron. SEC is the premiere football conference in the country and has the most financial backing. I think Kiffin likes the idea of being the biggest fish in the biggest pond. Sarkisian makes sense, perhaps Stoops even. He's been at Oklahoma for a while now.

Lane Kiffin is not going anywhere. And neither is Orgeron for that matter. These guys are just getting things started at Tennessee and despite what some people might think on this site, UT is NOT a second rate university. We may be down right now but it will not be for long. We have all of the resources that USC has with better facilities. However, I do see where the California recruiting would be a draw but even with that being said, is Monte going to just up and leave for USC? With his home being in Tampa, I do not believe. IMO, Lane Kiffin is here to stay. Lane wants to build his own legacy; not pick up where Carroll left off. And what better way to make a name for yourself than to rebuild the Volunteers? And one other thing. Lane Kiffin has yet to prove anything significant as a college head football coach. Just saying.

Saban would be too tense for SC, but Stoops on the other hand....

I think Kiffin would look really bad if he left this year. I don't think he's leaving for a few years, but I don't see him as the guy who wants to spend his career in Knoxville.
