Peytons supporting cast

his supporting cast on offense is really good and he is really good - neither were yesterday - its football, it happens - its why it is so hard to judge great players by SB wins

easy in the NBA - you get a best of 7 so you can have an off night and come back and you affect the game on O, D, and in transition - just can't in football - what makes it great but also what makes it random

and i don't mean random that the Seahawks won b/c they are an excellent team - just random in the way the game happened

This well said and very fair. You can't look at what the Broncos and Peyton accomplished over the season and throughout the playoffs and all of a sudden say Peyton doesn't have a good supporting cast because they were manhandled by the Seahawks last night.

The Broncos were a very good team that were thoroughly beaten by the best team in the league last night. It was an embarrassing loss that sometimes happens. It's football. Every Broncos player contributed to their 15 wins this year...and every player contributed to that disaster last night, including my all time favorite player Peyton Manning.

already did. Take some time to catch up

Actually, the second one is his fault, too. He saw that guy coming and he threw it anyway. Plus, he had tons of bad throws that game. Let's quit looking like pathetic homers and just call it like it is - he sucked last night.

the broncos could have all of their injured players back and still lose the game.and they need to load up on defense during the draft so they can make another run at it next year.with their players back from injury and a good draft denver should be one of the two best teams in the afc.

They won't. They'll just try to beef up the Denver passing attack and the same crap will happen next year. Peyton needs to just retire.

Look, last night doesn't change the fact that Peyton is a top 5 QB all-time, and that's coming from a person that's not a huge fan of him.

However, why is nobody here giving at least a little bit of blame to Peyton for that offensive performance? I mean, he is essentially calling the plays and handling the ball every play, so at some point, he has to take a little blame for it, doesn't he?

This, and this is what drives people crazy about the Peyton worship. I really like the guy and was rooting for him, but you can't have it both ways. You can't praise him for making everyone around him better and for being basically a coach on the field, but when something like last night happens then suddenly blame everyone else for not being good enough.

He was so bad he set a Super Bowl record for pass competitions! Not sure but I think it would have helped if he'd had some help last night.
Very poor play from Denver in most every aspect of the game.:loco:

A record gotten mostly after the fate of the game was well established.

Kinda strange you could care less after all PM was a Vol and supports them. Just saying. I pull for the Titans but do not pull against any former Vols especially who stay true to the school.

So if it's Peyton Manning against another Vol, who do you pull for?

FTR, I'm a Denver fan from the early Elway days, and was pulling for the Broncs regardless of the QB.

it really wasn't but whatever

no one is claiming he played a good game. You can't expect a QB like PM to excel when his OL was allowing a rush like that and his WR didn't seem to want to get open, hold the ball or even get a 1st down. Add in the D bouncing off tackles, crazy snaps and the return game putting them in a hole last night (both sides) and it's a recipe for disaster against a team like Seattle

And on a lot of relatively short throws. Seattle stole the field beyond 12 yards.

I also put the blame on the Denver fans! Last time I looked at a map, Denver is closer to NJ than Seattle is! Yet who got loud and helped win the game for their team, Seattle. If people want to trash PM they also need to trash how bad his supporters were in this game.

That's what happens when you are forced off your game. Seattle harassed him all night.

This. He aint Mike Vick back there and the SS did exactly what they needed too ... pressured him and forced mistakes. That is about his only weakness.
They tried several screens and quick hitters to neutralize it. But, the SS were all over almost every play.
Great defensive game. Gotta hand it to them. When you make PM look old, you've done something.

Manning can't complain about not having weapons this year. I'm the biggest Manning supporter ever, but Pete Carroll just owned the Broncos. Manning struggles with pressure, really bad now after his neck injury, and the Seahawks put the hurt on him. The biggest issues with the Broncos is their o-line was vastly overrated coming into the playoffs, and everyone knew their secondary was terrible. The Seahawks simply took advantage of the weaknesses of the Broncos and it worked. It also helped that their special teams got a huge boost with Harvin. It is what it is, but for the first time I just think Manning looked like it was over for him.

What QB doesn't struggle with pressure? Please!!

Not strange at all

Once they leave UT, I have no vested interest in what they do

I'm a UT fan. Not a VFL fan

So let me get this straight, it wasn't his fault because he got hit? Isn't every fumble because the player got hit?

The game was over at that point anyway, it was over as soon as that bone headed attempt of keeping the ball away from Harvin resulted in the TD to start the second half. Any chance of a comeback was squashed before it got started.

The other day I told a buddy of mine, who obviously hassles me about being a Manning homer, that I want him to win of course, but wouldn't be surprised that Seahawks pulled it off. This bad?? Heck no. No one called that, and would have reasonably put money on that type of spanking. My gut feeling came from being an NFC guy so I feel that those teams are grittier and beat themselves up more. I just looked at it like when my Giants, yes my Giants, beat the Pats.

Just seemed from the get go from the coin toss to the first snap that it was just going to be one of those days for the broncos.

So what was up with the coin toss?? Was he suppose to do the flip and the ref jumped the gun or was he just suppose to stand there??

The commercials sucked, but the halftime show was pretty good imo. I'll be honest I had heard the guys name and the songs but had no clue who Bruno Mars was. Was quite surprised when he turned out to be the drummer at the start. Ha!!

The Broncos overall played like crap. As a competitor I wouldn't really boast much about beating a team that just seemed to wake up on the wrong side of the bed. But that's me. I hate games like that. For goodness sake I turned it off in the 3rd. Sux for the companies who pd top dollar for those. I would think next yrs prices will dip some due to this yrs debacle.

Broncos def need to focus on D and OL play in the offseason.

You just didn't go there?

You may just have started the downfall of VFL

I disagree. He knew he was gonna get hit (see facial expressions) and decided to wing it into coverage anyway. As sickening as this sounds ... I immediately thought of Tony George running down the sidelines when the LB took that to the house. It was a very similar play and scenario. He should have tucked it and took the sack, but didn't IMO.
Again, SS defense abused them, especially the OL. PM pressured all night.

I have an interest, but the people that were Colts fans, decked out in Colts' gear and then switched all that to Broncos gear, yeah I totally don't get you at all.

He needs to retire? Why? He's said he feels good, he just had the greatest QB season in history, he led his team to 15 wins and the Super Bowl. Why in the world would he retire?

Isn't it odd we are talking about SEATTLE fans bring the loudest?

He doesn't need to retire, still obviously got a couple years left plus don't want him going out like this.

Totally understand

I really don't care much for NFL football anyway. All the arguing over money and " I can't feed my kids on what I make" BS has really soured me on the NFL.

I much prefer College

Why do people have to completely embarrasssss themselves with comments like this.

Looked normal to me on ONE play. A UT Grad DE still hasn't seen a x UF Back run by him....where did he go??
I thot I wuz watching a UT=UF game in the swamp....where one teams Defense kicks another teams ass and makes them like it.....all the while the dumber than dirt fan base blames the QB for choking :eek:lol:

IF you don't like Peyton, fine, but to say he choked makes you look real bad.

Defense wins championships and idiot fanbases worries about recruiting QBs and WR and running backs.

Wonder how many Pro Draftboards and meeting today and discussing Defense and not QBs. Johnny Football the first pick............sadley some idiot will probably make the call.
At no point did I ever say I didn't like Peyton, he is my favorite Vol of all time behind Reggie. If you want to blame this performance on the defense alone, have at it. Doesn't absolve Peyton and his poor performance and anyone who has an IQ above room temperature could see that he was not on his game last night. Hate it for him, but if he gets all of the praise when they do well, he has to get some of the negative when he makes key mistakes and doesn't play like the Peyton we have seen for so many years.

He definitely was not on his game last night and neither were any of the other Broncos. Huge kudos to Pete Carroll and his staff. They were prepared and clearly the better team. I don't think it mattered much how Peyton played last night, the Broncos didn't have a chance.
