Police shooting black man in the back ... again (Kenosha, WI)

They have to because not many people are signing up to be a cop with the low pay vs hazards vs public attitude.
pay and stuff isnt that bad in low crime suburbs -- different story in large city ghettos or wherever minorities reside

The military was doomed once that fatassed Shannon Faulkner won her case against West Point and subsequently washed out of the cadet corps (pronounce “core” Mr. Obama).

The Citadel, not WP.

Pretty simple, get pulled over:

Turn car off
Turn radio off
Turn on recording device
If night, turn on interior dome lights
Put hands on steering wheel
Roll down windows
Wait and deal with situation as calmly as possible
Notify police you are streaming video
Use sir and ma'am as sign of respect even if you don't respect them.....it eases tension and allows the police to feel in control
If you have valid drivers license, insurance, no outstanding warrants or tickets and nothing in the car, you will be ok.

If you have any thing outstanding, be an adult and deal with your situation as it has just become a priority to be dealt with no matter how much you avoided or tried to avoid it. Now you have to deal with it, so, deal with it and be an adult and take your lumps.

Why are these simple things so difficult?

In this particular instance, you are probably right.
That's the problem with letting the entitled little spoiled brats act like little 2 years olds pitching a fit. When people think they can do anything they want with no repercussions they will. I'm guessing it will come out that the idiot in this video was going after a gun, he certainly decided that he didn't have to listen to their commands.

So here is a question. If any of you were stopped by police and they drew their weapons on you, what would you do?

A). Peacefully comply with what they say
B). Engage in actions that would immediately make an officer suspicious or nervous
C). Just go full bull in a china shop

If it’s me? I choose A every single time. And guess what? The chances of someone getting shot for doing that is way less than dying from the rona.

The statements and determinations of law enforcement administrators in many of these situations are that the officer followed department policy.

Disagree with the legal/therefore not their problem conclusion. A department can choose to be better than the floor set by the law.

Your Point #1. If that proves to be true after an investigation, then it should be a slam dunk to take him/her and his/her jurisdiction to the cleaners and by that result, the policy and training gets changed if the policy is in error. In many of those situations it is true that the officers acted appropriately per their training/policy, the jurisdiction/Chief doesn't get sued and/or lose and nothing gets changed. You know who writes those policies these days? Attorneys.

Your Point #2. This is true for all professions, including yours.

I find it curious/interesting that 2 members of the legal profession are complaining about something that they have the training (and probably the wherewithal) to do something about and yet, apparently haven't, because one thinks it's bad for business (CWV) and you because?

My point is, that if it is morally and ethically wrong to do, (which is open to argument), there are avenues of redress built into the legal system. Why haven't those with which you take issue been addressed? For instance, Miranda, wasn't always required to be given for someone considered to be in custody. Now it is because someone took it to court and won?

Even if he wasn’t necessarily going for a weapon, his prior record put the police on edge. If he would just used common sense things would have never escalated.

I assume if he had a gun it would have leaked by now.

Here's my guess of what happened, based on the reports we've heard. He stopped to break up a fight. Police show up, ask who he is. Find out he has an outstanding warrant. Wanna arrest him. He gets upset because he had intervened to play peacekeeper. Says screw this, you ain't taking me in, I'm outta here. Goes to get in car. Cops fail to stop him. He enters and they shoot.

You know what, that actually sounds believable.

Not saying that getting in his car was a Super genius move, but I can imagine that situation playing out in my head with friends I know/family members. Still a pretty dumb move, however.

So here's the question, if he says: "eff this. This is BS. I was just helping out. Why you taking me in. I'm outta here." And then they shoot him. What basis did they have to believe that lethal force was justified?

You are missing the bigger point. Why didn’t he listen to the officers when they had their weapons drawn?
