Potential Coaching Staff Members (list)

I can see Gonzales coming in with OC title and coaching WR's until Kiff installs his offense. Kiff will call plays next yr. with Gonzo taking over in 2. Gonzales may go to MS with Mullen unless Urban makes him the OC. Only drawback I see with Gonzo is that he may get HC job offers in the next few years, so we may not have him long.

I would love to have Gonzales, but I just don't see it working out. He has been in a totally different type of offense Kiffin is gonna run his whole career.

Didn't see this name posted yet....this comes from football scoop

Tennessee: We hear former Syracuse offensive coordinator Mitch Browning has interviewed with Lane Kiffin. Browning once led the Minnesota Golden Gophers offense to over 2000 yards both rushing and passing in 8 straight seasons.

Browning is a very solid OL coach. Look at the difference in rushing production at Cuse once he got there. He was also at Minnesota while Maroney and Barber were running wild.

I've yet to read a name that I would be disappointed with. Coach O and Gonzales would make this a dream staff.

HV what are your opinions on Drayton?

He's a decent recruiter but I've yet to seem him put a good product on the field. There are 3-4 RB coach candidates that I'd take over him that have already been discussed.

It is hard to imagine Kiffin keeping one staff member that was only here for a year simply for continuity.

He's only on right now because it's kind of hard for Kiffin, Cregg, and Reaves to hold down all of the recruiting. Drayton will be gone in the next couple weeks when the bulk of the staff is in place.

I totally agree with your views on Drayton. What has had my curiosity peaked, is why he pulled the string on hiring Cregg early when he's implying that he has to wait for seasons to end and contracts to expire before announcing others apparently coming from NFL teams. Was it a potential recruit that forced his hand or was it just his opening Jab to let Al know the fight was on?

Yeah, I was interested in hiring this guy back then. Instead we went went and hired our crappy TE coach. I always wondered what happened to Browning. I'd be pretty excited about him coming here. His Gophers went wild on Alabama I think in 2005. It was the year the Tide didn't allow a single 100 yard rusher all year up to the bowl game. Maroney and Barber each had well over 100 yards and I think the third string guy got close. Extremely impressive. He also coached a couple of linemen to national awards.

I was hoping bates would be the new OC. He is a bright young coach who knows the pro offense Kiffin will run and is great with qbs.

Darren Perry has interviewed he is a great DB's coach I had never heard of the oakland raiders #21( not going to try and spell his name) now he is one of the best DB's in the NFL

Tennessee: Sources tell FootballScoop that Lane Kiffin has talked with Oakland Raiders assistant Darren Perry about joining the UT staff as defensive backs coach

He received a raise and extension to keep UT away. He had talked with Kiffin but the Broncos thought he was to valuable to lose.

Thanks, I was afraid the Broncos would do whatever was necessary to keep him. He might be the next head coach there in about 4-5 yrs. It would have been nice to get him here, but he's apparently a NFL guy all the way.

Eddie Gran indicates that Kiffin will not fill out the rest of the staff until the end of the regular season. Coach Kiff is supposed to be in Tampa for the Raiders game this weekend. I look for several coaches from the Raiders staff to interview and be offered positions. I think Kelly Skipper and Brian Schneider will join his staff. I als hear Darren Perry is a done deal as DB's coach. I think this will be the new UT Coaching Staff:

HC-Kiffin
OC-Gonzales
WR-Skipper
RB-Gran
OL-Cregg
TE/ST-Schneider
DC-Monte
DL-Orgeron
LB-Lloyd Lee
DB-Darren Perry

Unless I am missing something I just don't see Gonzalez leaving UF.
