Potential Coaching Staff Members (list)

Darren Perry has interviewed he is a great DB's coach I had never heard of the oakland raiders #21( not going to try and spell his name) now he is one of the best DB's in the NFL

Tennessee: Sources tell FootballScoop that Lane Kiffin has talked with Oakland Raiders assistant Darren Perry about joining the UT staff as defensive backs coach

Nnamdi Asomugha? Dude is the best CB in the league, but I'm not sure how much of that you can give to coaching. He was good even at Cal as a FS during his time there.

Unless I am missing something I just don't see Gonzalez leaving UF.

That ball is in Urban's court.
If he names him OC (that comes with a raise)- he stays @FL.(word is he has looked at some people outside the staff to fill the position, not a done deal he offers it to him)

If he doesn't we have a good chance to get him. - we will offer more money than he currently makes. And he will prolly get a OC title.

Eddie Gran indicates that Kiffin will not fill out the rest of the staff until the end of the regular season. Coach Kiff is supposed to be in Tampa for the Raiders game this weekend. I look for several coaches from the Raiders staff to interview and be offered positions. I think Kelly Skipper and Brian Schneider will join his staff. I als hear Darren Perry is a done deal as DB's coach. I think this will be the new UT Coaching Staff:

HC-Kiffin
OC-Gonzales
WR-Skipper
RB-Gran
OL-Cregg
TE/ST-Schneider
DC-Monte
DL-Orgeron
LB-Lloyd Lee
DB-Darren Perry
You forgot Reaves so that would be too many coaches.

If Meyer doesn't promote him, wouldn't that tell us something? Why would we want him to be OC if Meyer doesn't want too? Does he have a different mentality than Kiffin?

Florida's OC calls some plays I believe.

Here, he's basically just going to get paid more to have the title and coach the WRs.

Is Reaves good with QB developing? We will need that for sure. Also there was a rumor that I read on here somewhere that said CLK was talking to TOm Rathman as rb coach is that true?

At this point, I'm leaning towards this staff:

HC-Kiffin
OC/WRs-Gonzales
QBs-Reaves
RBs-Gran
TEs-Cregg
OL-Browning

DC-Monte
DL/RC-O
LBs-Schneider
DBs-Perry

I really like that staff because I think it would gel very well. Cregg and Browning both can coach OL and TEs so they could collaborate. Gran could take ST return side while Schneider could take ST coverage side. It's also got a great mix of recruiting power and player development and a good amount of experience at both NFL and NCAA levels.

I guess d walker is the new coach at new mexico so that pulls him out of the lsu job. Miles will really go after O now.

It's been talked about for a week or so that Chavis would probably be named the new LSU DC within the next week. Miles was never looking at O for DC and still won't. If it is true about Chavis, that only helps our chances with O. Walker would have been gone from LSU within the next few years and that would open up the possibility of O moving from DL to DC with them. Chavis won't be making that move if he is hired. He will be the DC there for as long as they let him. O will want to move up to DC eventually. He can do that within 4-5 years at UT.

Finally someone with an update! Any links or ideas on when official word comes on Coach O? :)

If we find anything out about O, look for it around next Tuesday or Wednesday. Chances are, if we don't find anything out by then, he's staying with the Saints.

I would guess within 3-4 days we may know something. IMO, we will know about most of our staff by the end of the upcoming week.

Hyams said Coach O was offered the job with a salary of $650,000. That would be ridiculous.

Of course Hyams is an idiot and I don't believe a thing he says. Just throwing it out there.

I know Bama has the highest paid position coaches in the nation at around 350k I think I read. That's downright ridiculous, but you have to think, if true that means some very influential people in Knoxville are as tired of our mediocre football team as we are.
