Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

Feels like a fairly important game today for Chelsea to maintain they’re grip on that 3 spot, yet Tuchel made some significant changes at the back three. No Rudiger, Silva, or Chalabah at the back. Will be interesting.

Edit: Rudiger has a knock from last game. That’s why he’s not in the squad so there’s that at least.

Tuchel has been in the Premier League and top football in general long enough to know if you put out your B team defense against a team in the top half of the table, you’re going to get a B team performance. Defense straight gifted 2 goals and then a wrong penalty call gifts a 3rd goal.

Tuchel better not be thinking top 4 is a given because it’s far from over.

Has this ever happened before? Three live soccer matches on US network TV (CBS, ABC and NBC) at the same time?

Saturday April 23
Bayern Munich-Borussia Dortmund (ABC, 12:30 pm ET)
Brentford-Tottenham Hotspur (NBC, 12:30 pm)
North Carolina Courage-Washington Spirit (CBS, 1 pm)

Jorginho with a horrid penalty in the 86th minute 🤦🏻‍♂️
Captain America then comes in to save the day.
3 points secured, 9 more to guaranteed top 4.

Didn’t get to watch the full Everton/Liverpool game, but saw one penalty in the box missed. Doubt it would have changed the outcome with LiVARpool having 85% possession but still, tired of seeing bad calls all around the league.

Every teams supporters cry about missed VAR calls, but I feel like Everton actually has a leg to stand on. Feels like there have been a lot of issues with VAR and Everton this season.

Burnley isn’t going down
FIFY.

They've caught fire at just the right time. If Everton end up surviving, it'll probably be because they end up running down Leeds who arguably have an even tougher run in than we do. Leeds have Palace (A), City (H), Arsenal (A), Chelsea (H), Brighton (H) and Brentford (A). Everton have Chelsea (H), Leicester (A), Watford (A), Brentford (H), Palace (H) and Arsenal (A).

Everton have been on the **** end of some bad VAR calls and refereeing this season, but I didn't feel like today was one of those days. We understandably went all in on the ****housery from the opening whistle, and it was nearly halftime before the ref even started to call us on it. Pickford alone probably shortened the first half by 5-10 minutes.

Gordon's first penalty shout was a clear dive. The second one was borderline, but the ref deemed it not to be a foul, and if that was the case, then Gordon should have been carded again and sent off for simulation. Instead he just let things run.

The result wouldn’t have been different if the call was given, no doubt. First one by Gordon was a clear dive. Honestly, with one of the angles they showed, it looked like if Gordon would have just ran through he may have actually gotten contact and a pen. Instead he planted and dove which actually stopped his progress from running into Liverpool defenders outstretched leg.

The second one though was clear I thought. If roles were reversed and that was Salah, it would have 100% been called. They arm fought a bit and then there was the contact and Matip even extended his arm out after the contact which seemed to be a bit of a push. Even Jamie Carragher, former Liverpool player one of the more biased announcers/pundits there is IMO, agreed it was a pen. He was also right in saying that if you don’t dive the first time, maybe you get the correct call the 2nd time, which is fair. Evertons shenanigans also surely didn’t help either.

A friend of mine was at Amex. They said it’s the best stadium in the UK.

Interesting. The Amex is one of only three current PL grounds I haven’t been to. Has your friend been to Spurs’ new ground? While not necessarily my favorite away day for a number of reasons, the stadium itself is head and shoulders above anywhere else in England IMO.

What do you all think about a single game parlay, boosted by 33%, Benzena scores by header, De Bryune an assist and goal, over +2.5 goals (both teams, Mad) ?
