I’m hearing that Jesus from Manchester City is wanting to go to Arsenal. Is it because they don’t want him or what?
His contract isn't up till next summer, but he's not likely see his playing time increase if they sign Haaland in the summer.Hasn’t been a consistent starter, yet seems to get starts in big games. His contract runs out this summer I think and he’s ready to go find a spot he can play more consistently. Solid player though.
I showed my friend your post, this was their response, no clue what they are saying.Interesting. The Amex is one of only three current PL grounds I haven’t been to. Has your friend been to Spurs’ new ground? While not necessarily my favorite away day for a number of reasons, the stadium itself is head and shoulders above anywhere else in England IMO.
With relegation for Everton looking more likely by the day, it seems like none of the talking heads are really making this out to be as big a story as it actually is. Maybe even they aren’t fully aware of just how dire the financial situation will be if we get relegated and think it will be like when other big clubs like Villa, Newcastle and West Ham have been relegated in the past. It will be nothing like when those clubs went down and bounced right back up. If Everton don’t find the points over the next four weeks, it will be one of the giants of English football dropping out of the Premier League never to be seen again, a la Sunderland or Portsmouth.
Kind of a long thread, but does a good job explaining the perilous state of the roster/contracts. Doesn’t even get into the fact that we’re midway through building a new ground that we’re about to have no use for.
Do you have any recollection if all/most of the Villa players had relegation clauses in their contracts? That seems to be the biggest worry with Everton right now. They apparently didn't even consider relegation as a possibility, so if we go down all the players will remain on PL level wages, which, given massively reduced revenues due to losing PL tv money, we literally can't continue to pay them without running roughshod over the financial rules of The Championship and incurring points deductions.Villa were in the Championship for 3 seasons and needed an unprecedented 10 game unbeaten streak to even make the playoffs.
The season before that Villa had basically gambled everything on going up and failed to do so and were in financial trouble.
The season we were back in the premier league, we barely stayed up on the last day of the season.
Not really arguing anything you’re saying, just that it wasn’t as cut and dry as going down and coming right back up. Everyone always thought Villa was “too big to fail,” but I think we came dangerously close to becoming a Championship/yo yo club.
Same, will be tough. A loss tomorrow against my Chelsea isn’t a guarantee. We’ve been gifting teams goals lately and struggling to covert our own chances.
Truly a shocking mistake by Dave to give away the goal.Bump.
Told y’all yesterday. We gifted the goal and didn’t do a single creative thing in the final 3rd on offense. It’s the Chelsea way as of late.
Had to feel good for Frank. Happy for him.
