as far as Obama being a Constitutional scholar goes...if that's the case, where does he find the "right to choose"?

If he's a Constitutional scholar, why would he continue to appoint judicial activists like Ruth Bader Ginsberg to the Supreme Court?

If he's a Constitutional scholar, why does he support Gitmo detainees being awarded the privilege of habeus corpus? It's clearly not a right. Check out Article I Section 9:

The privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.

clearly, the public safety requires that terrorists not be given habeas corpus.

care to enlighten me? you're the one who claimed that Obama is a Constitutional scholar. I merely pointed out three instances where his acumen might not be as sharp as his rhetoric.

This thread was bad news in the making, that's why I didn't post in it last night. It's all relative anyways, I agree with you on most of your points but most everyone else doesn't.

I did want to see some serious answers from Obama supporters. I am a little disappointed nothing was offered from them.

I just didn't feel like getting into the same pissing match that normally occurs.

He is an intelligent man and a good speaker.

I like his views on health care, agree with his saying that high gas prices will help us in the long run if it leads to new developments in alternative energy, and that we should make a return to diplomacy (even if that means he might *gasp* talk to one of our enemies).

As for strategy, well let's just say I think that the 50 state strategy is what will ultimately win him the election, and his trip overseas (especially to Iraq and Israel) will pay off in the long run

So you would be all for taxing gas at a higher rate, since this would hurry us along at an ever faster clip?
