Realistically, who should replace Holly?

Lawson and Catchings do not want to coach.
GG and Mickie do not want to be head college coaches again.
Pokey will never coach at the college level again.
Muffett isn't leaving ND.
Peck won a NC with a high caliber team handed to her when Fortner left Purdue to coach the USAB Natl team, otherwise her coaching record is terrible.
Banghart is a great coach but has zero experience recruiting SEC-type players.
Van is 72 and I doubt he has much relevance in recruiting.

Let's face it. This program and its legacy is 100% on Pat. When she left I had a bad feeling what we are seeing now was going to happen. Can't replace a legend and I seriously doubt we will see another NC in the next 10 years (and maybe never). Hate to be negative.

A young person, late 20's or early 30's, unmarried, from outside the Lady Vol tree - otherwise I don't care.

Would not mind but we need a GOOD X's and O's coach as well as a good recruiter. That is what we are lacking and the trouble we have when we need to be able to counter certain defenses or situations. You can no longer just recruit well and say "clear out and give it to Candice to go 1 on 1."

I think we could get Brenda Frese for 1 million maybe slightly more. Hart and the BOT will never pay that. They want a bargain.

I don't know if that is true about Gail Goestenkors. I think we should at least ask her.

What would be the incentive to switch to Tennessee? Money? I would wager that both are making gobs more money right now than Holly is.

In just the SEC there are 7 coaches making more than Holly. I think Hart will look at her and think he is getting pretty good bang for his buck so there won't be a change until the bottom falls completely out.

Also, are there any young coaches who worked for Luigi or Muffet who have gone on to build a program?

UConn assistants Chris Dailey or Shea Ralph.

Dailey will never leave UConn but Ralph is an interesting possibility. When she played she left everything on the court. My understanding is that she coaches the same way. She has a dozen years as an assistant coach, including 8 years as an assistant at UConn. She is also a good talent scout and recruiter. And she's a southern girl.

Remember, with Pat, we also lost some stupid games. Like six years ago in the first round of the NCAA, we lost to Ball State.
So, I am sure that all coaches lose some games that they are supposed to win and they also win some games that they were supposed to lose.
I understand that we are no longer the top dog in the S.E.C. and that South Carolina is. I also realize that we haven't faired very well recently in the NCAA.
I am almost in panic mode but not just yet. We have a good roster of players, so things may get better.

I am not in a panic but very concerned when a head coach, says, "If I knew what the problem is, I would fix it." Something is without a doubt broken and is in need of someone to fix it.

I wouldn't be too concerned with what Holly says in an interview. Coaches speak in generalities. Pat was big on empowerment. She wanted the players to take control of their lives and be responsible for their own destiny. This is Holly's way of saying the same thing - "I'm not going to fix it, you have to."

I am more concerned about the product on the basketball court than what Holly says. There needs to be demonstrable improvement soon.

Not one thing you stated is fact. Your jaded ignorant opinion is on display. You know nothing about DH yet you state it as fact. I have to laugh at losers like you. This post was to Sandvol.

Well, I believe there are at least 100 or so experts on this site who know what Holly should be doing so I suggest it gets put to a vote. I don't know squat about coaching a women's basketball team so I'm not interested. I nominate hokievol12. His/her post got 6 likes so that is a good start. Happy campaigning.

If Nikki McCray is healthy and interested, I would mind the Vols giving her a try. I'd even take Carol Ross or Gail G. Im sure those three have to be better than Holly in several categories.
