Recruiting Central

Anyone think UF commit DeMarco Murray will be an instant impact player? ESPN has an article up saying that he has the potential to be the next Reggie Bush. I know we have Dustin Lindsey. Any thoughts?

Safe bet is he is going to USC.

They're eat up with USC right now. :bad: I say no way Pete Carroll will be there in 4 years. The NFL will offer too much money.

Yeah I think Pete Carroll will cash in his chips and head pro....49ers, Texans or somewhere. He's accomplished everything he can.....short of a trifecta. If that is accomplished he'll shop the pro's for the big bucks.

Jai Eugene has Tennessee on his list of schools according to rivals.com. Plus it doesn't mean anything, these kids make decisions last minute anyways. Let's just wait and see what all of them do. Until Feb 1, 2006 rolls around we won't know anything.

Anyone have a clue as to why the Vols havent hired a recievers coach yet :dunno: It just seems to me that that would give a few recieving prospects out there a warm and fuzzy when considering the Vols...

Can't recruit receivers every year. We have a good crew (when they play well) and this puts off prospects because they'll have to wait to play. Wait til early to mid January. We'll see the big prospects pick. Hope to see some of them pick Vols.

According to Scout UF is at the top of Jai's list. I have trouble believing that all of their receiver commits are going to sign on the line. There are too many of them. Are there any examples in recent history of a team peaking to early in the recruiting season and then losing a bunch of verbals?

Fair enough, although I believe we need some a couple recievers this recruiting class, and I think we could pull some in if we would hire a legitimate coach for the recievers.... Anyone have a clue as to why the Vols havent hired one yet :dunno:

I hope that Cut and CPF are not feuding over who to hire. My guess is they want someone who is in the NFL right now and they are waiting until the end of NFL regular season to make a move.

Also, can wanyone explain to me why UF is having such an amazing recruiting year? They barely beat us and UGA (could easily be 6-5) and 8-3 is not exactly an outstanding year by Gator standards. I just don't get it.

Well that is the only explanation I can think of as to why they havent hired a coach yet, and while I admire their patience, I wonder if this will hurt us in the long run....I suppose we will see.

As far as UF's recruiting class, all I can say is wow! Can they possibly keep this up? As much as I dislike the Gators, you have to give them props. Maybe it is the new system Meyer has put in that is raking in all these blue chip guys. As good as a class as we had last year, I think UF has surpassed that by far..... :banghead:

As bad as our special teams have been . . . That actually IS a bright spot.

Too bad they don't rank recruits on Kick COVERAGE.
I admired Jackie Sherill's method of getting walk-ons to handle coverage duties. I guess as long as you do not play anyone with a serious burner for a return man it is a pretty good strategy.

I think the reason Jackie Sherrill had to do that was because he typically was either on or about to be on probation and was dealing with a scholarship reduction. :birgits_giggle:
