Recruiting Football Talk VIII

My daughters nickname in basketball was Gatorade and based off the movie, The Water boy.

Assuming she’s taking other kids lunch money!? Sheesh….let us join in prayer for whoever the man is she marries 🥺🥹 he was a good one🙏🏽 keep teaching her the hook and jab @volbeast33 maybe even the drop kick to the grapes…she won’t have any issues moving forward. Also keeps you out of jail 🫶🏽🤣😭

Martinez isn’t good and Pruitt is a good defensive mind statistically speaking. Pruitt had a lot of problems as our HC but coaching the defense wasn’t one. I still don’t know why people defend Martinez.

Pruitt’s defense here was garbage.

I don’t have a problem with Willie, but even think it’s an argument that he is by far worse recruiter on this team from a position coach outlook

Whatever you need to tell yourself man. I'll make this prediction though...the secondary will be the weakest unit on the field again this year and Martinez won't be here next season.
😂 Our dline should be one of the best units in the country. Lbers will be good as well. Even if the secondary is good they may be the worst unit on the field. Martinez seriously considered retirement this offseason; a good chance if the secondary is the best unit on the field that he retires anyways. Only reason he’s back is bc Heupel and Banks wanted him back.

This place is full of WM apologists.

Why? I have no idea unless they don't like to speak bad of a current coach. It can't be because they are satisfied with what they see on the field. Just look what a below average UK QB did to us last year

I wish it was full of people talking about Onis Konanbanny. 🙄

Also. . . does Krystal have the best chili?
Eh No GIFs | Tenor

Do you put pinto beans in chili? Also, is it too early in the year to be cooking chili?
Over decades of evolution, this is how the bean game in my chili (always dry beans, and without draining off the water) looks:

1) a handful of lentils - they break down quickly to add thickness, and nail down the low end of the flavor spectrum
2) two handfuls of black beans - adds another layer of flavor, and darkens the chili to make those tomato chunks glow real purty
3) three handfuls of pinto beans - gives it a solid middle, in substance and taste
4) one handful of red kidney beans - they won't be completely softened when it's ready to serve, but that becomes a nice texture against the chunks of beef

* and save a 3/4-cup of chopped onions until about 15 minutes before serving time (if still simmering) to add yet another surprise texture and flavor.

I laughed when I saw all the chili posts! This weekend I asked myself the same question: "Is it too soon for chili?"

and a side question. . .

What's better:
Petro's from a mall in the 90's or homemade petro's?

A) Never to soon for Chili
B) You gonna post the whole recipe? That's a lot of beans. Best put an egg in there.
C) Gotta make enough to put leftovers over Fritos.

Random ass question for y’all. I’m looking for a change of scenery. I’m born and raised in Brentwood. I’ve thought about Idaho, Montana, Denver, Savannah, Charleston, San Antonio, etc.
I’ve been to all, but only lived in SA (5 years) and Charleston (5 years in Charleston, 18 more in the area)

Loved SA, but that was 30 years ago while in the AF.

Just moved from Charleston. Every time we go back to visit family we’re so thankful we don’t live there anymore. Great place to visit, but have zero desire to move back.

If we decided to move out west I’d have no problem with either Idaho or Montana based on short visits and what I know. Love the lifestyle there. But them winters….

The southwestern part of South Dakota may have been our favorite as far as a place to live out west. But again, them winters.

Denver area is beautiful and expensive. From people I know there, there are much better places to live in CO if your job allows such.

Savannah is pretty and that’s all I know about it.

But really, it’s all about what you’re looking for. If constant traffic, and heat/humidity don’t bother you, and you like the ocean, then you may love Charleston.

In 2020 we gave up over 2,658 pass yards good for 99th in the nation out of 127 teams…again the argument is that it was the weakest unit on defense talent wise and statistically when he took over and that is a true statement. Has Martinez been great? No, but comparing him to the DL and LB coaches in terms of the talent they inherited is disingenuous
Could any other coach have done more with what was here? That is what CJH has had to take into account, and he is still here. Like I said elsewhere, this years trends will determine his status. He himself has taken talent out as an excuse starting with this room following the flush last year.
