Yep I do, but unlike TCU they seem to have distanced themselves from it. Also enrolls 2k+ more students than TCU so again it's easier to get kids in at SMU than TCU.

From their website:
SMU was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South in partnership with civic leaders. The University is nonsectarian in its teaching and committed to academic freedom and open inquiry.
TCU is nonsectarian and the Christian denomination with which they are associated is Disciples of Christ, which is basically the most liberal Christian denomination that’s ever existed. In my general neighborhood area we have two of their churches, Woodmont Christian and Vine Street Christian. Both are packed with affluent people who all voted for Joe Biden. Most of the big wig politicians in Nashville go to Vine Street.

Honestly...TCU is a harder spot than SMU. SMU is in Dallas and not a private Christian school. A bit easier to recruit to Dallas over Fort Worth/Lubbock, plenty of local talent close by admission requirements are a bit easier too I believe. Biggest down side is American conference vs Big 12 (Power 5).
You do realize that Southern Methodist University is, in fact, a private Christian school, right? TCU and SMU are only 40 minutes apart because Dallas and Fort Worth are basically sister cities.

Lubbock is the one way out in the middle of nowhere.

Volnation, I don’t post very often but I wanted to ask if you all would consider dominating another poll. My son had a big game Friday night and is up for area player of the week. He caught his first and second TD of the year including the game winner with under a minute to go. He had 7 catches for 139 including the two TDs. If any of you have time, please vote for Chyler Lee. Thanks and GBO!

I put a bunch in. Probably 20. It started saying it had already counted my vote. I'll try again later.

Need a 3.7 GPA to get into SMU and there’s 700 more students than TCU. SMU’s also a private school and much more stringent in their requirements. And TCU’s not BYU or Liberty. No one’s going to Bible study before study hall unless there’s a student group voluntarily conducting it. I’m cursed with knowing what I’m talking about here. My daughter was a good student and I did the research. TCU was pricey…SMU was practically Ivy League.

Ive only drive through a few times, but what is the difference in recruiting Dallas vs Fort Worth? It’s literally the same city to me. Maybe they were separate at one point but they are just one giant city now.

Their city limits don't even touch. Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie...are in between. But it is one big area, and that's why it's called the DFW metroplex.

TCU and SMU are both very pretty campuses. I will give them that. I think recruiting advantages between those two ebb and flow, and TCU's window to have the edge is closing unless they hit big with a new hire and start winning. SMU has been very good recently, trending up, and recruiting well. If they can get into the Big12 soon they really could become a read-deal contender in/for the next 5-10 years.

Oh I agree there. I think that's a slightly different argument.

Ty Chandler for example, would have benefitted from staying in retrospect with all the injuries. He still would have split carries with Tiyon. He's still having a good year at UNC.

Key Lawrence is having a fine year at OU, but he could be a star here at Tennessee this year.
we have better athletes in the the secondary than OU
