Made sure to balance my kids out and they turned out great. I think the answer all depends on the parenting. My kids probably had it much better than me.Before by a million. My childhood was outside playing in the neighborhood with other kids til dark. It was the best. Kids today spend majority of their time indoors glued to a screen and have horrible social skills. It’s pathetic what the internet and gaming has done. But that’s also just bad parenting.
Granted I played a ton of Atari and Nintendo, but mainly my parents said get outside and play and come back in when it starts getting dark. A much better balance back then.
If that is true, and they all play..we will win this game unless UK just has one of those games where everything goes their way. It’s early but potentially good news for this week: I asked specifically about Tiyon,… Cade…. Simmons and Theo and he said they were all full participants in practice today….. He also stated that he thinks everyone will be back this week.
Just curious, but if it truly was accidental... how does potentially ruining two lives make sense to you? If a drunk pedestrian ran out in front of your car while you were innocently driving down the highway, do you honestly think you should serve 5 years in prison? And you'd be okay with that?
The trauma one would likely suffer might be penalty enough, but jmo.
Would really like to see the Vols win this game. This is a real opportunity for Heupel and the new regime to create a lot of momentum for the program. If we lose this one and go 6-6, there will be NegaVols in the off-season who claim that we didn’t beat anyone that mattered, especially if we lose a bowl game. I’d really like to deprive them of that talking point. 7-5 would be the best first regular season of a new coach since Kiffin, and think of how much optimism we had right up until he jumped for USC. 8-5 would be the best start since Fulmer in 1993. Such an opportunity to change the whole narrative around our program.
That defense was COMPLETELY gutted by 2nd half of the Bama game. We literally had to play backups...out of position. It was absurd how devastated that defense was the 2nd half of the season.So..."entertaining"...that depends on if you like to have a team that plays total defense. I don't want an "entertaining" team, I want a team that blows people off the field...which is what that team should have been. The FACT that Appy f'n State pushed them around on both lines like they did is really what that team was...a team with insane offensive skill position talent and nothing else
And that team was absolute garbage by the middle of the season thanks to Butch being a total dumbass.
Like I said...most Vol fans were too blinded by that offensive talent to see what that team really was...a team that got slaughtered by Candy.
One of my good friends, and his family was hit by a f'n scumbag pos a few years ago killing one of his sweet girls, and nearly killing his wife. He and the other younger daughter only had superficial injuries.I feel ya man! The person I knew was wasted that went to prison. Partied with him a lot. But he took a little girls life and he deserves the time he got. But you are right that the limit can be different for different people. Shoot 21 year old me could drink eight beers and feel nothing. If I drink that now, I’m in bed half the day.
All of the crazy I did back in the day and yet I can still say this...I never drove drunk or stoned.I feel ya man! The person I knew was wasted that went to prison. Partied with him a lot. Best series ever to reread...soooo much stuff that you have no idea is important only to have it be a massive thing much later..Jordan was ingenious at that. You've got a long haul ahead of you. The books/series is so long you start forgetting details.
Have you guys read any of the Forrest Gump books? Probably nowhere near as good to what you guys are talking about. I just thought it strange that the book character of Gump was so much different than portrayed in the movie. . .Best series ever to reread...soooo much stuff that you have no idea is important only to have it be a massive thing much later..Jordan was ingenious at that.
I forgot a lot of these things by the time I finished and didn't remember a lot of the foreshadowing..On reread you catch most of those things and you are like wow...
People tell me that have read the series multiple times that they still catch new things on just about every read.

Anyway, just a random thought. . . maybe I should post a thread in the ff about it.
I guess giving up that many points to freakin Vandy made me feel that way. That defense was COMPLETELY gutted by 2nd half of the Bama game. We literally had to play backups...out of position. It was absurd how devastated that defense was the 2nd half of the season.
And to be fair, that team in no way got "slaughtered" by Vandy. We were ahead nearly all of the game, but they definitely ripped us in the Q4...sure.
But I agree there was always something "off" with that team - very evident by game 1. It was S&C being total garbage and losing Jancek and his elite 3rd down defense imo.

Why Butch let Dave Lawson go will always puzzle me. Surprised he isn't somewhere besides ETSU. I'd take him back in a heartbeat if Schmidt were to leave for another opportunity. Hopefully not though. Heupel seems to have brought a top notch strength, conditioning, and nutrition staff to Knoxville. That defense was COMPLETELY gutted by 2nd half of the Bama game.
