I mean if I'm the NCAA, with the likely blowback coming from Congress and OSU mess I'd just make a statement.

"The University of Tennessee worked quickly and effectively to remove coaches, staff, and players all involved in the violations that were uncovered by their internal investigation. It is for this reason the NCAA will hand down no further punishment to the University of Tennessee."

I would definitely fail nnn if that happened

What ncaa did today to OK st scares me with our dumbazz idiots turning ourselves in… we are probably screwed
It also hardly seems our the situation we've put ourselves in

Evans, who never had to speak at trial due to pleading guilty, did not cooperate with the NCAA's investigation. That was a factor in Oklahoma State's punishment, a source told CBS Sports. Everything else the NCAA acted upon was based off of what was provided in federal court. Oklahoma State is being punished for lack of cooperation (strictly from Evans) and unethical conduct, plus the fact Evans accepted dirty money.

"Tennessee feels strongly that the players involved in the alleged violations have transferred elsewhere and many will be in post-season play themselves. For the current players and recruits, putting to bed speculation on a possible bowl ban is a step forward from the cloud surrounding the program for the last year. . ."
How does it put to bed speculation if the NCAA hasn’t ruled on it?

What would the blowback from OSU be? Wasn't there a blatant case of cheating? An FBI case at that...he literally pled guilty.

I guess just the speculation that we may do it to ourselves asap?

I'd be surprised if the NCAA rules before Dec-Jan. At worst we end up with a 2022 bowl ban.

Guess that's some relief? 🤔😒

They're getting some blowback right now for punishing kids that were essentially in Middle School when the violations occurred. The takes on social seem to be that OSU fired the people that cheated, you shouldn't punish the people that didn't commit the crime. Unfortunately this is too logical for the NCAA so who knows if they'll ever learn.

I see everyone liking this post. I'm going ahead and feigning ignorance here. This article only speaks about our own actions of not self-imposing a bowl ban. What else is there to get out of this? What are some bullet items? Isn't an NCAA ruling still looming? Thanks.

They haven’t even sent a notice I don’t believe. Sounds like Tenn has communicated with them, they fired everyone involved, and used a 3rd party for the investigation. They basically paid for and did the NCAA’s job for them. Puts them in a great position to appeal or fight anything the NCAA tries to impose. My bet is the NCAA doesn’t get anymore involved.

Happens to me like clockwork
Try Earth Ride next time. I got a $10 ride In a Tesla SUV from the Gulch to West Nash (51st) whem I was back visiting over the summer.
Typically more expensive to get to Crieve Hall back when I would go from my spot in the Element to visit the crew. But a much better ride. The lady who started is a local and great person too.

This seems logical, but also opinion. I want to be excited about the news today, but ultimately am confused what news is actually good.

Media articles are already out about how the NCAA didn't handle the situation correctly. I mean you can google it and tons pop up.

Just seems likely the NCAA now ruling (almost 6 years later) on the OK State situation while Congress is specifically trying to push a law to prevent that sort of dragged out investigation by the NCAA completely.

I hope so but the ncaa never sends the notice of allegations until the investigation is complete.

Need to see recruiting pick up now

At the start of the season most top recruits wanted to see if this staff was any different than the last one we had. I believe we got their attention when we rolled Mizz and USCe. But what we did in the Bama game I believe we have their full attention. Not saying we get all but they looking hard now. Could want to see how we finish. The UK is a huge game for recruiting I think.

The ruling isn't looming. The NCAA has yet to even say we did anything wrong officially.

I’d appreciate some prayers for my family. Yesterday I lost my dad to a massive heart attack. He lives in Scotland so my family and I can’t attend the funeral because of COVID.

He was flawed but he was the person that got me into Tennessee Football. Always wore his power T proudly while there. Gonna miss the old man.
Very sorry for your loss. Prayers for all of you.
