You either have a reading comprehension problem or want to be intentionally obtuse. My original post never said he was the "consensus #1 DL coach in the country." That was your language, and I merely responded with challenging you to show me who has put out more draft picks. His job is to recruit and coach. To be an NFL draft pick, a player normally has to have the talent along with the coaching.

We got deep in the weeds anyway as you admitted you knew exactly what I was inferring as the big picture wasn't just about Nolen. Just because Nolen doesn't believe something doesn't mean he knows jack ****. Just follow the immediate money- that's what it's about.

Geez, I don't have the time to explain it like a school teacher.
But my original argument was "he is not the consensus best DL coach in the country," because the original point was "he is sacrificing NFL potential for short term NIL money," which presupposes that Nolen admits/believes Garner has the best chance to develop him into an NFL player, but he doesn't care because he'd rather have short term NIL money.

Of course Nolen is focused on the immediate money; but to act like he's sacrificing NFL potential to focus on immediate money is the argument I'm contradicting. That's just a sour grapes argument, and no one on this board ever said or believed that Carl Lawson would have been stupid to come to Tennessee because he would have been sacrificing his NFL potential by not playing for Garner, so no one should be saying Nolen is sacrificing his NFL potential by not playing for Garner.

Immediate money is not ALL that it's about. He can have both. Plenty of DL coaches out there can get him to the NFL, he can have NIL money AND still get to the league.

Hey. @InVOLuntary and @Weezer should start a podcast called The Geezer and Weezer Show. They could talk about what it was like while the Earth cooled and which of the early civilizations were the best and worst for various aspects of everyday life.
Classic----I'd like to see a gif for that :cool:

Gotcha.
(Not towards u).
I don't even think of just the 2nd place snubs but some of the other "wtf" moments in the past.

Jamal Lewis - was never going to win and that's fine, no problem there. But the shortfall of votes putting him in contention was pathetic.

Eric Berry - again understandable. But remember some media appeared down right pee'd off over the campaign.
Not just "unlikely" but truly aggravated it was a TN a defensive player. (Not far after the Manning/Woodson debacle). 🙄

Just 2 examples but it's like it became personal after TN fans calling them out, following the initial bs.
Y'all always leaving out Heath Shuler.

That pic is army proof

Interesting. Hadn't thought of that angle.

Would love to be able to read Quinn Ewers NIL deal from OSU. If it was backed by a booster(most likely) and not a national company(doubtful) then they got raked bad. Hate that for them. Lol!
Texas has him now so it looks like the big boys are duking it out

What criteria would you measure the CONSENSUS best DL coach in the country by exactly? You're arguing a point that is subjective at best. Even your illustration of Saban being the "Consensus' best HC could be argued by some fan bases, but I'm sure you're argument would hang upon the amount of titles won, and players put into the NFL.
There isn't a criteria. I was following the original statement to its (il)logical conclusion.

The original post I responded to said that Nolen was willing to sacrifice NFL potential for NIL money. That would assume Nolen believes that Garner is the best at developing NFL players but doesn't care because he'd rather have NIL money, and for us to assume that Nolen feels that way, it would require at least a large majority of recruits or coaches or industry people to believe that Garner is the best DL coach in the country, i.e. the consensus best DL coach in the country.

If you ask 1000 college football coaches/players/recruits, they're not all going to agree (or maybe even mostly agree, I don't know) that Garner is best at developing DL for the NFL, so it's not fair to assume that Nolen is sacrificing NFL potential for NIL money.

Swain’s comments this morning about NIL were interesting. He said that free cookies and chicken are good enough for current roster guys, but that it isn’t enough to secure new recruits or transfers. He’s not worried yet.

Swain also mentioned that we may have backed off Evans knowing that Bigsby was entering the portal. He was just spitballing but thinks that Garner or Burns may have had some prior knowledge.

He also mentioned that if you want to secure an elite, top ranked QB the going rate behind the scenes is $1.5 to $2M.
We need Peyton to give Arch a Papa Johns for his services on Rocky Top.

I think we're all going to have to come to terms with NIL's effect on recruiting. If the market for an unproven 5 star QB is 1.5 to 2 mil, then we either pay it or get left in the dust. We can complain all we want about it, but it doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon.

He needs to change positions or realize he’s a backup lifer. He’s not bad to have in the bullpen. His time is running out in football. He’s just not savvy or tough.
I want to give him a full year with Heupel before I determine what he is as a football player. I hope he sticks around through next year then I feel we can see if he's good enough after Hooker goes pro.

Lots of intriguing talent already in the portal with more sure to come, it's just a matter of who will we be interested in?
You probably could compete for a conference championship with the talent that is in the portal. It's kinda nuts right now.

Always the contrarian calling things sour grapes.

I didn't want players going to Auburn because I don't root for them. But I can recognize that kids weren't making a bad choice.

In a fantasy and speculative world, you are correct. But kids will find out that it isn't always the case that choosing the immediate money will help their future worth. I am done with this.

So neither Tank nor Nix are officially in the portal yet. Hope they both do go in. I'd love for Tank to come to Tennessee, but also, if recruits see Auburn falling apart, hopefully those leaning Auburn over Tennessee will reconsider.

Exactly

Hopefully they’ll realize how trash they are going to be next yr and reconsider. They already had a horrible O Line and now they’re losing they’re most talented players and going through another coordinator change.
