It’s just ok in reality. Rankings wise, we’re right dead in the middle of the league. If you recruit at that level, you’re going to stay at that level. A lot of the same people who were being critical of Mullen’s recruiting at Florida are silent regarding Heupel’s recruiting. Mullen and Heupel are very similar IMO.

SEC crews are bad, but other conferences are atrocious. I know some ACC coaches and they face this crap every week.
This is same crew that has been suspended in the past, yet here they are officiating a bowl game. Music City Bowl should look into background of the crews they approve for their game.

I hope this experience leaves a bitter and simmering, stewing anger to Danny White - having just watched his coach and his players giving their absolute all, to be thwarted by an uncontrollable force (the refs).

The only way to fix this is to get the absolute best players we can, so that we can be so far ahead in every game that our fate is not decided by incompetence and/or outright favoritism by refs.

Danny White needs to channel his inner @Ulysees E. McGill and realize this is an “us-against-the-world” scenario, and take a different stance than the one described by @LA Vol of focusing on compliance first, winning outcomes second.

But Mullen is a weirdo and Heupel is chill. Big difference. Also, I have confidence that Heupel will consistently run the inferior teams on the schedule off the field, and as long as you do that and give yourself a fighting chance in most of the other games, you have a pretty high floor as a coach.

Someone could make a fortune by opening a legit officiating crew agency. Set standards, have full-time employees. Kinda like Jimmy Sexton, you want a good coach, you have to go through him.

Bad officiating crews should not be rewarded with postseason games period. It's bad in every sport. In this years World Series they had some of the worst umpires at calling balls and strikes and if I remember correctly the worst in the entire league was part of the crew. It's embarrassing. Not sure if college has a union but it's 100% to blame in MLB.

All things consider it was a great year. Anyone acting like any coach on staff should be fired is crazy. We need consistency here. Theo, Hooker, Tillman to name a few and many more were written off or not expected to produce like they did and then had career years. We have some good coaches who seem like they’re doing their best to wipe the stink off this program and have done a great job so far. There is always room for improvement. I think we will be alright going forward if we can hold our own in recruiting. 8+ wins year and continue to build and recruit better each year. I believe! 🍊

Mullen is a goof. Heupel seems like a pretty cool dude but that doesn’t necessarily get it in recruiting. Garner is about the only guy on the staff who’s been there and done that on the trail.

I don’t want to be a Debbie downer but all we really did this year was catch a lot of people off guard and beat up on bad teams.

I’m far less optimistic about year two today than I was just a few days ago.

Three things that need to happen to prevent fake injuries.
1. Injured player must sit entire series
2. Both teams remain in their huddle and can't go to sidelines to talk with coaches. Water can be brought to players by training staff only.
3. Defense can only substitute for injured player unless offense makes substitutions.
