Chew on this:

Cade was out. RT was our biggest weakness on the OL, yet we ran that way on 4th down in OT.

Hmmm.
I love the aggressive playcalling. Going for the jugular on 2nd down with :44 was great. 3rd down shouldve been a slant, or 5 yard out. Honestly a run on 3rd down makes sense. Kick the FG.

Also, in OT you either kick FG or PA. The way his offense had been playing you kick FG.

And you were probably one of them. Bottom line is, we’re going to need to be in the top ten year after year if we’re going to even think about a championship.
Buddy. it's year 1. He recruited top 15 and he's still going to add 7 players with everything, including the NCAA cloud, going against him and all the crap surrounding the program.

If you're judging him as a recruiter based upon year 1, a year that isn't even complete and he is in the top 15, you have serious issues.

Someone could make a fortune by opening a legit officiating crew agency. Set standards, have full-time employees. Kinda like Jimmy Sexton, you want a good coach, you have to go through him.
NCAA and conferences do not want to spend the money to get officiating right. With legalized gambling on college level growing by leaps and bounds, the need for better officiating has never been greater. I am not saying officials last night cheated, but ACC has alliance with Big Ten primarily to challenge SEC dominance. That alone raises doubts about last nights officials.

If the defense doesn't improve significantly next year...then he will have to go.
If Heup feels that he is not doing his job then I agree but it appears to be a player issue and not a coach issue at the moment…. Typically the difference between good teams and bad teams are depth…. We had a defensive tackle that played 100 snaps against kentucky…. That is insane and shows where are at personnel wise at the moment.

I looked on Twitter last night and there are quite a few non-Tennessee media and other personalities saying it was an absolutely horrendous call. Even some rival teams alumni players. Of course, McElroy from SECN can suck it.
McElroy is pissed he lost $250k in crypto about a month ago.

Bad officiating crews should not be rewarded with postseason games period. It's bad in every sport. In this years World Series they had some of the worst umpires at calling balls and strikes and if I remember correctly the worst in the entire league was part of the crew. It's embarrassing. Not sure if college has a union but it's 100% to blame in MLB.
College has part-time officials. And get part time results. Unions are MLBs problem. MLB umpire Union may be strongest Union in the US.

Yeah...I realize that, I don't think anybody needs to be fired. I said if the defense doesn't show ANY improvement next year that Banks will probably need to go. I am expecting them to be at least a little better.

They had less than 100 yards and 2.8 yards a carry. Right at the 2 leading rushers totals for the year. Not even close to the problem last night. Tbh wasn't a problem all year...we let QB's run free though. Bad DB play and pass rush is what was the problem. I'm not a fan of CB approach but we are going to have to upgrade the talent on the back end.
They had 78 yards rushing in the first half for 4.6 yards per carry….. we adjusted but that’s usually to the detriment of another area of the defense…. Probably helped their passing attack some.

Worst call, IMO, was in OT when we had 1st and goal from the 3 yd line and tried to pass…taking a sack. We had run the ball fairly well to get to the 3; so why not run, run, and run again? Tried to get too cute with the pass play on 1st down and it bit us in the rear.

I get your point on the OT calls, and maybe he makes a different decision if it’s not 5 hours into a bowl game that is ultimately just for the love of the game, but I was OK with being aggressive there.

Ainge on the radio last night after the game made a good point about the bombs on the last sequence of regulation. He was saying we don’t know what the call was, but Hooker has earned the right to read the defense and play it out, and on both deep shots, he had a man running wide open, so it’s hard to say he made the wrong read. Ainge did say also though that when you pull up from 40-feet late in a 2-point game, you better make the shot.

Now, I do think we should have called a TO after the first run on that drive. We did go very fast, but still lost 5-10 seconds.

Yeah, I was confused on that call
