How long do we have to give banks a pass…..
Next year, the following year????
We have a good coach who can win big here but has a bad DC. I don’t understand people defending a **** job on defense and then turning around and bitching about a record setting offense that is also lacking talent but the coaches are blamed……
The DC and defense as a whole sucked it up this year plain and simple and needs to do a hell of a lot better next year
Yes, the Offense needs to improve and be more efficient but the back 7 on defense need major coaching up this off season and the DC needs to keep learning bc he can do well here but needs to learn from this past year being a first time DC

Awesome week! For those of you wondering, my son is actually my son again! He is seriously turning a corner 🤗

I can’t count the number of people who came up to me after the game and told me how we were robbed. One was even wearing Purdue gear!
My kids are still amazed at how Vols are everywhere and vocal! Gave and got more GO VOLS than I could count.

My takeaway from this season is that we have a coach! We have a coaching staff! We have players who are actually Volunteers! It’s a new day, it’s a new year! It’s about to be clobbering time! I can’t believe that it took over a decade to get back here. 15-0 🤠

I played both wr and db and always thought defense was harder because you have to react and read more keys than an offensive player.

I ignored the question because it has nothing to do with whether this defense was acceptable given the roster. I did play and I played multiple positions. I can tell I also do math and physics. 4 vs 6 isn't a winning combination. We rushed 4 90% of the time. We seldom even hurried the QB. We ranked statistically as one of the worse defenses in all of football. We continued to do the same thing over and over and saw no improvement, actually got worse as the season went on.

If you're counting on a huge influx of talent the class just signed is on par with what we've had in the past few years taking into account transfers. From a talent standpoint we're not going to be much better on defense. Maybe some transfers in will help, but from a talent standpoint we won't be much better. If we're relying on talent to improve the defense, we're in for a long few years. Maybe Heupel can outscore everyone.

We were in Pruitt hell only a year ago, and if ever someone took over a dumpster fire, it was Hype. I think he has done amazing here. Not disappointed at all.

The purpose isn't just explosive plays. It's also about catching the defense off guard; not giving them time to adjust, shift, substitute, etc.

Agreed, we were looking football purgatory square in the face. Had it been Elliot or even Franklin we'd have failed. I think Huepel was exactly the guy needed, we lucked into him big time.

I was agreeing that we were in great hands and don't have anything to be disappointed about. Probably should have replied to the other guy who was bragging on Kentucky, but I liked your post better.

LOL and they trailed in the 4th quarter in both.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love an actual 10-win season (I’m open to claiming 10 wins this season)… but UK is still UK.

Yes and you could tell at times that Huep called a play he felt was perfect on those exchanges and the OL didn’t block or the QB didn’t execute. This will improve with time.

That defense needs players...They started with a lot of people transferring and was part of the investigation. The front 7 suffered the most the Dline and LB’s got hit hard. What was it 65/68/72 ? Scholarship players and the defense was hit the HARDEST.! Quality, depth and first year schemes has everything to do with it. They’re not just gonna fix this with one recruiting and transfer year. This defense needs two maybe three years to catch up with where the offense is going to be next year to the next.
