Vail finally got some snow!
Top: Skiing Wednesday with my son
Middle: Gameday with my daughter.
Bottom: 1/1/22 skiing with both my kids
Awesome week! For those of you wondering, my son is actually my son again! He is seriously turning a corner
I can’t count the number of people who came up to me after the game and told me how we were robbed. One was even wearing Purdue gear!
My kids are still amazed at how Vols are everywhere and vocal! Gave and got more GO VOLS than I could count.
My takeaway from this season is that we have a coach! We have a coaching staff! We have players who are actually Volunteers! It’s a new day, it’s a new year! It’s about to be clobbering time! I can’t believe that it took over a decade to get back here. 15-0
Go Big Orange!
I ignored the question because it has nothing to do with whether this defense was acceptable given the roster. I did play and I played multiple positions. I can tell I also do math and physics. 4 vs 6 isn't a winning combination. We rushed 4 90% of the time. We seldom even hurried the QB. We ranked statistically as one of the worse defenses in all of football. We continued to do the same thing over and over and saw no improvement, actually got worse as the season went on.So you ignore the question because it doesn't fit your agenda. I would say Utah had less talent that OSU yet still OSU looked like trash in the game. Purdue beat Iowa by 2 TD's . I don't think one season is a fair judgement for any coach as they should have at least 2 -3 seasons to get the players to fit their system. Have a question for you, did you play ball and if so, what position.? I played both wr and db and always thought defense was harder because you have to react and read more keys than an offensive player.
So you think those numbers gonna win us a bunch of games? They are pathetic. Our defensive efficiency index rating was 74th in the country. Our defensive drive efficiency ranked 94th. Our defensive available yard percentage ranked 80th. Our defensive yards per play ranked 36th in the country. Our defense was bad but using basic box score stats that do not take into account opportunities to label it as "pathetic" is a reach. We even had some decent stats, our havoc rate was middle of the SEC.
We were in Pruitt hell only a year ago, and if ever someone took over a dumpster fire, it was Hype. I think he has done amazing here. Not disappointed at all.We can all look at what Stoops has built at KY and appreciate it and also believe that TN is in great hands and will be better in long run. Both can be true.
The purpose isn't just explosive plays. It's also about catching the defense off guard; not giving them time to adjust, shift, substitute, etc.It looks like he's gonna have to slow it down when he gets in the red zone. Playing fast there is not really a good thing because the field is too short for explosive plays. We seem to shoot ourself in the foot playing fast down inside the 20.
Agreed, we were looking football purgatory square in the face. Had it been Elliot or even Franklin we'd have failed. I think Huepel was exactly the guy needed, we lucked into him big time.We were in Pruitt hell only a year ago, and if ever someone took over a dumpster fire, it was Hype. I think he has done amazing here. Not disappointed at all.
KY has now beaten 2 teams with a winning record. The other was Chattanooga. They are 1-4 against power 5 programs with winning records
Yes and you could tell at times that Huep called a play he felt was perfect on those exchanges and the OL didn’t block or the QB didn’t execute. This will improve with time. The purpose isn't just explosive plays. It's also about catching the defense off guard; not giving them time to adjust, shift, substitute, etc.
That defense needs players...They started with a lot of people transferring and was part of the investigation. The front 7 suffered the most the Dline and LB’s got hit hard. What was it 65/68/72 ? Scholarship players and the defense was hit the HARDEST.! Quality, depth and first year schemes has everything to do with it. They’re not just gonna fix this with one recruiting and transfer year. This defense needs two maybe three years to catch up with where the offense is going to be next year to the next.I've never claimed he had all the.parts. I've not been impressed all year. Statistics bear that out. Like I said earlier, do you think he's gotten everything out of the talent at his disposal? If so, that's your prerogative. I don't, I think the defense has underachieving. Eveybody is free to blame whatever they want. They're free to be accepting of whatever level of play they feel is appropriate given the talent level. I ha e zero confidence he's got what it takes to be successful long term here.
