The extra space aspect fully depends on your situation. Its definitely a good bit more space which for me was what I wanted, but a classic is more than enough room for a family that’s just cooking burgers, hotdogs, steaks, etc. If you like to cook briskets and larger cuts of meat the classic is still sufficient but a large brisket takes some maneuvering to get it to fit.
As for the larger start times, I honestly haven’t started a classic as I’ve only ever had a big Joe, but I have no issues getting the big Joe started up fairly quickly. Just like getting any fire started it’s just air and fuel and adding more air flow by blowers, fans, etc will decrease start up times. There are starters you can buy online for pretty cheap that blow air onto the coals and it’ll start up real quick.
