No it's not. It's the media looking for clicks. Tennessee doesn't have to do anything Tennessee doesn't want to do. Heupel is a fan favorite here (except for the bvs'ers maybe) after doing what he has done in year one. I think CJH is smart enough to play the long game.
I think the Napier hire is bad for Florida. Florida is great when they have elite offenses. I don’t think Napier will run an elite offense. C- for the hire and fit.You know of any of these high profile portal players we have a shot at? Thoughts on Napier at Florida? Harsin considering leaving AU? LSU going to hire anyone?
UT doesn't like to comment on things they consider a non-issue. It's all speculative. If it becomes something more, it might be addressed within the context of something else.
I’m not sold on Napier either. Limited HC experience. Won at Lafayette however he should have the most talent in that whole conference just due to being in Louisiana. As another poster showed they barely won like 20 games that were one score. I get Louisiana was bad before him but 4 years as a HC seems kinda like a gamble for UF.I think the Napier hire is bad for Florida. Florida is great when they have elite offenses. Harsin is working it for a raise. He stays.
LSU should go after Kendall Briles or Urban Meyer, not sure he’d go but if he’d leave the NFL it will be for a premier program.
I don't think Heupel is going anywhere, but do you, or does anyone, know if Heupel has a healthy buyout in his contract should he ever decide to leave? I know we've left ourselves unprotected in the past, I'm just hoping we learned from that.I wouldn't worry about any of our marquee HCs leaving this year. UT leadership has met with them individually, asked each one what they need to make their programs successful and worked with them to create a plan that gives them the resources they need. They all know that stability is important to UT, and UT has committed to all sorts of things-- staff enhancements, facility improvements and longer-term contracts. We want our coaches to make short lists-- it means they're doing well. They're also happy at UT and know that UT is invested in keeping them.
So, other coaches are gonna tell recruits our coach is leaving? I thought they were telling recruits we were going to NCAA prison-----I'm so confusedOther teams will just tell recruits that Huepel is going to Oklahoma until they finally hire somebody. If we can capitalize on other programs’ turmoil, it will be a first.
What they say or don't say to the media has nothing to do with what they say to the recruits IMO. Not in the same category.I think that’s a mistake, in this instance.
If Wednesday rolls around and this is still hanging in the air, between VolTwitter and the national media, everyone in the nation will think Heupel’s on a plane to Norman.
