What the hell is Rucker talking about with "DeBord helped usher in the spread at a couple of programs"?
He was at Michigan from 92-99, where they ran the typical 3 yards and a cloud of dust under Lloyd Carr. DeBord did try the spread at CMU, where he went 12-34 from 2000-03. After getting fired, he returned to Michigan as a ST/TE coach from 04-07 once again under Carr. Everything after that was as a TE coach in the league and everything before was as an OL coach at smaller schools where I doubt he had any input in offensive philosophies.
