This is the kind of hire that will bring a ****load of heat on Butch if the offense stumbles out of the gate next year.

Let's just say that we start 2-2 next year with losses to OU & UF, where the defense looks way better than the offense....well, it'll be time to buckle up.

That and finishing recruiting. I think it could be a defensive recruit that flips and we'd still blame DeBord. But the situation you described seems very realistic.

Serious question, why are you here?

well, when you're born in knox and go to every single game since the age of 3, you can't really choose what school you really love. I'm here just like u guys, I enjoy shooting the **** and talkin vol football

Are a lot of us being negative, sure, but the concerning thing is that those in the opposite corner can only say,

"Stop being so negative."

The fact that literally, not one poster, has said, "I think he will be a solid/great OC because _____" is extremely concerning.

How successful was he at USF? Maybe very, I don't know, but if he was, it seems odd he's now a GA at UT. And it's worth noting that GA's cannot go out on the road and recruit.

Born May 21, 1988 in Bangor, Maine
Hometown Saline, Mich.
Nick Sheridan joined the University of South Florida in December 2012 after spending two seasons on Willie Taggart's staff at Western Kentucky. Sheridan was the quarterbacks coach and passing-game coordinator in 2012 after serving as the team's offensive graduate assistant in 2011.

In 2012, Sheridan guided Kawaun Jakes to a 147.8 pass efficiency rating, which ranked 28th nationally. Jakes passed for 2,289 yards and 21 TDs, while completing 64.6 percent of his passes, en route to honorable mention all-conference honors.

Sheridan worked closely with the Hilltopper quarterbacks in 2011. During his first year on the Hill, he was instrumental in WKU's improvement on offense, and helped the Hilltoppers post one of the best turnarounds in Sun Belt Conference history.

Prior to joining WKU's staff in the spring of 2011, Sheridan coached quarterbacks at his alma mater, Saline High School in Saline, Mich.

A 2010 graduate of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in political science, Sheridan walked on to the Wolverine's football team in the fall of 2006, and earned a scholarship prior to his junior season. He saw action in 12 games under center during his career in Ann Arbor, making four starts during the 2008 season. Over that time, he completed 70-of-148 passes for 701 yards and a pair of touchdowns. In one of those starts against Minnesota, he completed 18-of-30 passes for a career-best 208 yards. In fact, his 236 yards of total offense were the most by a Wolverine during the '08 campaign.

Sheridan is a 2006 graduate of Saline High School, where he was a prep standout on both the football and baseball fields. His senior season, he earned all-conference honors in both sports, and served as team captain.

Sheridan has grown up as a coach's son. His father Bill is currently the defensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Wouldn't you think if CBJ was "humbled" by all the candidates contacting him about the OC job that he would at least interview some of them? Makes no sense to me.

Wow 8 whole games. With the talent we have that might be hard not to do. Hopefully our defense can win us some games bc DeBord sure ain't

8 wins would not give me much confidence for the future. The East is there for the taking and we finally have the talent advantage against everyone in the division outside of Georgia.

I was going to post the same. All I've heard on his behalf is "Butch got this", "Butch has earned our trust", "Butch wouldn't hire him if he wasn't qualified", " Butch has done pretty well up to now", "Butch knows a lot more than you morans".

I think the angst is more from worrying about a few of our commits jumping ship at the last minute, namely Preston Williams, Bussey, and Boulware. If we hold onto them, add Richmond and/or Allen I think most will take a wait and see approach.

I'm not even concerned with recruiting. Bajakian wasn't our best recruiter and DeBord probably isn't a big step back in our regard.

I'm ticked off because we just had a golden opportunity fall into our laps to upgrade Butch's biggest weakness (in my opinion) and we fell on our face. Butch has sold me in almost every way, but the offensive scheme/playcalling is weak. I thought he'd never let his buddy Bajakian go, and when Jake left I thought we had the opportunity to really upgrade. Somehow this leaves me feeling so much worse about our future. Maybe Butch will just get so much talent it won't matter. I don't know. Talent is most important, but if you don't know how to utilize it correctly, you'll lose to the teams who do. Our problems schematically on offense will come back to bite us eventually.

Of course DeBord could be great and surprise me in September, but nothing on his resume excites me at all. This is probably the first move under Butch that has just left me feeling upset. I trust him with a lot of stuff, but his offense has left me underwhelmed.

*Que everyone calling me a negavol.

I have to agree with you. Just a hard sell.

Kiffy sold most of us at the press conference and what did that get us. I want wins on the field not in the press conference. The heck with that. I will judge what happens on the field. Sound like some Bama up chuck on here tonight. Quit lubbing you vags.

My guess is he did and or will. Usually a gig like this has some intervirw requirements attached to it. Even if you're hiring the first guy, there is a process.

And Butch was the wrong guy, CJJ and CWM were just SEC has beens, CZA was a up north guy who didn't fit, CSS was an old bald white guy, blah, blah, blah.

LOL

Those guys had had at least a modicum of success within this century, and had been working at the positions for which they were hired. This guy, not so much. JMO...kind of.
