Maybe because Preston said he was worried about who they might hire. Obviously he's watching it. Maybe it would be enough to push him over the top if he was not impressed with the hire.

If DeBord is awarded full OC then it's a complete fail with Jones. If Azzani stays as CO-OC then not as bad only for consistent reasons within the system and players. Also, Azzani can get probably get more creative than the old guy.

A new OC with a similar system would've been the ideal choice. Whatever unfolds with DeBord, the first true test will be against Oklahoma. And if the offense falls flat. Massive meltdown on here. Just have a bad feeling about it...

8 wins would not give me much confidence for the future. The East is there for the taking and we finally have the talent advantage against everyone in the division outside of Georgia.

I took the Dobbs comment as including a statement in a press release or something. I didn't think they meet have Dobbs at a PC answering OC questions

"Stop being so negative."

The fact that literally, not one poster, has said, "I think he will be a solid/great OC because _____" is extremely concerning.

I haven't jumped on the panic button yet for 2 reasons.

1, I want to see how the assignments and responsibilities shake out.

2, The hire of Janecek terrified me and it looks like I was wildly wrong.


We won't know anything til 5 or 6 weeks into the season anyway, so I don't see the point in jabbing forks in my leg right now over it.

Yep.

When people complained about Jancek, at least he had SEC experience and was thought pretty highly of. Azzanni was a former OC/SEC position coach. Martinez was a former SEC DC. Stripling had a high pedigree as a DL coach.

I've yet to hear a case for DeBord beyond "trust in Butch no matter what."

He may be a stubborn one but you sure are a dumb one. Judging a guy before he calls one play. I do not know the guy but would never want to go to battle with some of the ladies in here. You don't have to pump sunshine about him being a great hire. But, who the heck knows how we will do. Jancek got fired at Georgia as well as Martinez but we have been seeing the love for them here recently. Even CZA was hated by some who want to crown him OC with less experience than the bald white one. Move on and watch what happens. Judge once you have some known results. Why are we hiring Butch Jones when we could have Charlie Strong. NONE of us know what the future holds.
