17 true freshmen played for LSU this past week and not one of them was Jacoby Stevens. They also moved him from safety to wide receiver because he got beat out by two other freshmen. I called it pretty early that we weren't missing anything when this kid committed to LSU. Theo Jackson was the better in-state prospect.

This was a huge miss by the recruiting services as I said one year ago.

It must be a huge burden having as much knowledge as you do.

This is super selfish but I hope hurricane Irma forces UF to cancel or postpone their game with Northern Colorado.

You basing your comment over one talent deprived defensive team at Oregon? Good Lord...

Hoke is a hell of a defensive coach when he has the players he recruited.

I'm not advocating firing Shoop just yet, but if we theoretically did, I'd hope we make Hoke and Warren Co-DCs. Let Hoke focus on the front 7 and Warren on the back end. But Warren's role as STs coordinator probably means they wouldn't want to overload him.

At RT? I didn't know he lined up any at RT. Unless you mean in general, then I definitely agree. I thought our Oline settled down and looked good after the first half. Dormady was holding the ball too long in the first half, so that didn't help either. If Richmond lives up to hype, or atleast 75% of it, our Oline will be top 5/3 in the SEC this year IMO. Assuming no other injuries happen of course. I do think we could survive with a few injuries were n the Oline tho

He was lined up next to Trey in the second half.

So, he is a bust after one game, that he didn't even play in. Come on, man. He has 4 years left and maybe 5, if they decide to redshirt him. LSU also moved him to WR halfway through fall camp. Maybe, just maybe, he hasn't had time to learn the plays, yet and that could have affected his chances of playing. Is your boy, Tim Jordan a bust now, since he didn't play last night ? No, Jordan wasn't a 5 star like Stevens, but u would have thought he was, after the way u went on and on about him during fall camp. Nope, neither Stevens nor Jordan are busts after one game that they didn't play in. Sorry, u don't get to pat yourself on the back after one game

If I'm Florida....I'm worried about playing UT.

Tennessee's offense scored 42 points - Florida's scored 3.

Tennessee's defense played against a triple option offense. Florida's defense played against an offense that they will pretty much see every week in the SEC...and couldn't stop it.

Tennessee's QB struggled early on, but put it together when it mattered. Unfortunately for Florida.....he's already better than all of their QB's combined.

We have John kelly....they don't.

:hi:

Want to like but can't because stupid computers!

Going to chime in on the GT game. Pumped about Calloway, Bituli, Kelly, and Taylor. Not pumped about Abernathy, Martin, and Shoop. I'm upset with Shoop the most. Unique offense that we won't see again - true. However, letting them do what they did is not a good sign. No way to spin it. Hoping Shoop has much better things to offer against more conventional offenses going forward this year.

Jennings missing time is a big blow, but after last season, I'm not going to get too worried.

The optimist in me wants to believe that it was the combination of GT's tricky offense, losing 2 LBs at the last minute and having to adjust his game plan a bit, and the offense not helping the defense get off the field and them getting so gassed it compounded the issues.

The pessimist in me is convinced that Brent Pry, Shoop's Co-DC at Vandy and PSU (and current PSU DC) was the real brains of the operation at Shoop's previous stops and Shoop just isn't very good without him.

Seriously believe the coaching staff figured they could outscore them. Drops in the 1st half hindered that. Thank goodness for Kelly and Calloway.

Yeah, in this case I think them not playing that game would actually be very detrimental to the Gators. They would basically be stuck in the same rut they were in vs Michigan and not have another opportunity to fine tune the offense. Sure, their guys would be a little more rested, but they would likely bench their starters early anyway. We come out ahead if they cancel that game IMO.

Will be interesting to see what they do considering the stuff they pulled last year with LSU

Florida is announcing their decision tomorrow. Likely will move kickoff up to noon

Wow

Not a single Jacoby Stevens played when 17 true freshmen did.

Wow... WOW!! Calling bust on a true freshman after the first game which he did not play in 👀

Agreed. I go to one game a year. Last year was Ohio after our OT win v App St. We looked terrible and it was inexplicable. Praying we come out on fire. If not, consider me concerned.

I wouldn't be concerned yet, if we don't come out on fire Saturday. You guys should go ahead and expect us to come out extremely flat on Saturday, after 4 days rest coming off of a double OT physical game. I won't be surprised if Indiana St hangs around until the 3rd quarter. We see stuff like this happen every week. I won't judge the performance this Saturday...just win and hopefully get the starters some rest, then let's get ready for Florida.

By this standard

John Kelly, Callaway, D. Taylor, Bituli

Are all considered busts because they didn't play in their first game.

Dumb posts are dumb.

I've watched the game over again, and I've come to the conclusion the defensive game plan (playing off the ball, limited Dline subs) was on purpose to limit any possible injuries and to not have to play players who might not be 100% yet. I believe they were willing lose the game, to save the players for later in the season. I also don't think they expected the offense to be as ineffective in the first half, so the Dline players would get more rest. Jmo

I agree with this to some degree. I think that they believed our athleticism would help to compensate for the conservative scheme.

Go Vols !

Lots of depth developed this coming weekend - hopefully.

People saying Stars don't matter need to look at our best players yesterday. Outside of Kelly and Bituli the others were highly rated and played the part. Callaway, Trey Smith, Warrior and Darrell Taylor were all 4 star or better. All this sleeper talk is over with. Recruit the difference makers and be done with it. LB, DT and DB should be the main position we are loading up at. Help is needed and in a hurry.

So was Bituli. Even Kelly was a high 3 star.
