I know, tl:dr. Ignore if you already know this.

UT admin/Haslam's will determine what the end goal for the football program is. If it is to win championships, they will eventually make the change before the roster and fan support stagnates to total apathy. If it is to be competitive and keep the money train rolling, they will roll with Butch, his 7-8 win regular seasons, and his constant BS'ing.

If it is the later, the ONLY way for their goals to be adjusted is as has been done with Dools and Fulmer. Stop going, stop spending money, and voice discontent en masse. Doing it respectfully is encouraged.

However, I firmly believe UT has made the turn by hiring a decisive AD who has the abilities and respect from those in authority to make changes. Regardless of some of us being done with him, one bad loss doesn't get Butch canned. Losing other winnable games will, especially if it is due to a lack of basic football intelligence. Butch is Hart's choice. So...

I wanted Blackburn because I had discussions with him and knew some of his long term friends who loved the guy and knew he could get it done. I also know a handful of Currie's long term supporters whom I respect greatly that have clued me in on him. I feel assured they made the right hire for UT at AD. He is up to the task and has the burning passion to MUTGA, which is all I want for Vol athletics. He began healing a major rift with the LV decision. He appears to have made a quality hire in baseball. He obviously knew CRB well from the Big 12 and we will see his support or lack thereof in the coming months. He will have hard HC decisions to make on LV basketball as well as football. But unlike Hart and Hamilton he will not panic and will be executing a solid plan for the eventuality before it happens. He's known well by all of the agents and national coaching community, which adds to the perception of stability under his watch. Whoever he recommends I am good with going forward because I know it will be well reasoned, bounced off many people with strong football knowledge, and will have the mission of championships in mind.

It's fun to throw out names we would like to see as HC. It's more fun to win at a high level with whoever the HC is because it means the players are developed well and playing as a team.

Stop buying tickets.

It is the only thing that gets noticed in the AD.

If that attendance number drops they start feeling the heat. That is the cash cow and has a trickle down effect on everything else.

If 60k showed up on Sat for the UMass game it would be impossible to ignore and a huge F U to Jones.

Ainge saying Pick 6 was on Callaway. Supposed to run a 5 yard hitch and ran a 9 yard hitch. I think Callaway said that in an interview as well

If we have to make a change, I don't get salivating over Tee Martin. I love the guy, but this is only his second season as an OC and we already have a great recruiter. A great recruiter is necessary, but it's not going to be sufficient.

Excellent post and this is why the AD hire was so critical. He will be the reason we succeed or fail as an athletic program. We need someone that can make tough decisions and is a UT guy. They got it right.

Painting a stupid rock has zero impact. All it serves is to make the fanbase look like a bunch of morons. If you want to affect a coaching change, write a well thought out letter to the UTAD. Make it a reasonable, well constructed letter that is non-confrontational, absent of knee jerk and four letter words. If you give to the university, tell them you're done until you see what you desire. Money talks, bull shat wlks (painting "Fire Butch" on rocks).

I agree with this. I was thrilled that John Adams didn't throw our fan base under the bus on the Finebaum show. (He was dying for Adams to take the bait)

Whatever we think of Butch, he has done a lot to pull our team out of the depths of hell, and he deserves our respect.

I am upset about this Florida loss and I am not sure he will be the one to take us to the next level. I may gripe and complain on a message board, but I do want him to succeed and respect what he's done.

One game at a time. Georgia game play at home will most likely show us the direction we are headed.

Yeah that one was obvious. Even with the right route I think it would have been a bad decision but Palmer defintely didn't help him out

Yeah but Palmer also spared Dormady a pick early in the game when we threw deep and about 5 yards short. Palmer went over the db's back to save a pick.

LWS saying JG isn't ready at all. Never was a competition in the spring. Blames development on the staff

I mean, it's pretty obvious to anyone with two working eyes that he's not ready. He did not look good vs. Indiana State. There's a reason they're hiding him.

Well that was the coaches then. You don't run a 5 yard hitch when you need ten yards for a first down on 3 rd down. It's another one of those bone headed routes we tend to run constantly.

If you personally feel Tennessee can do better then you should support a vocal opposition to failure. A move will not be made if the administration does not feel pressure.

Painting rocks and wailing on message boards will not send the necessary message. The only message that the administration will listen to is lower donations to the VASF and fewer ticket sales.

Again, you and your reasoned logic are not welcome here. If you're not letting your emotions determine your behavior, we don't want you around :)
