So Butch's contract runs through 2020. It seems as though an extension would need to happen after this season to show support and avoid negative recruiting. I think he's either extended after the season and here for a while or Currie goes in a different direction. I don't think you can go into next year without addressing the contract.

I said this a few weeks ago, and people questioned it. You either extend him or fire him. There is no in between.

Ok...but far from being THE ONLY CHOICE. Think Currie will recognize that mentality? :wink2:

He's the highest realistic choice. We aren't getting Gruden or Kelly. With the way the admin spends, offer 5 mil or so to Mullen. Then move down the list. We need a proven head coach from P5 that has shown the ability to do more with less. IMO that shows he will just need more resources and he would do better.

But yes Mullen only!!!!

I agree we should have beat them but it didn't happen. What was your win/loss prediction for the year? We all knew Florida was who they were all off season. Decent to good defense no offense. That game didn't show me any difference. We haven't beaten fl in Gainesville in 16 years I undervalued that. That monkey is still hanging on our back.

I thought 8-4 to 9-3 which is still in the cards. All depends on Georgia and the rest of the east.

After your first sentence, the rest of the post is irrelevant. Winning against a s*it team shouldn't be difficult even if it is on the road. Even if the losses from the past hurt to think about. In the present year, one team was vastly more talented, had actually gotten time to practice without being interrupted by a hurricane, and didn't have 10 players suspended for credit card fraud. That team has no excuses to lose.

I can buy that.

With how much heat coach thig has gotten the lb play has improved. I think we def have some nice players with Quarte coming around the emergence of Bituli and hopefully Smith get healthy. Jumper is what he is and I think would be a great backup if the young guys can take the next step.

Yea I am not a fan but his group has done ok

Absolutely. Looking like a bad hire. Dormady looks as bad or worse than last year or freshman year. JG is a highly touted guy who has looked like crap in limited action.

I think we need a larger sample size on Canales before we say the hire was a bust. The issue is QD's inconsistency and decision making. He may just be overthinking the situation and not playing loose. We saw in the GT game that he can play.

He double clutched which would possibly explain the wrong route distance. Probably threw the pass a little harder to try and force it in and sailed it.

The timing of a lot of plays is off. It's why we need to play our starters longer than most want to admit this week. They must get into a rhythm. Playing JG early in the IS game was a bad move

That's right. Currie wouldn't extend him after an 8-4 season last fall so I doubt he extends him with anything less than 9 wins this fall. Win the East or it's time for a new coach, IMO.

LWS has made it sound like a loss to KY or Vandy will constitute a change. If we lose to UGA in a week and are sitting at 3-2 going into the bye week the SC becomes HUGE. He loses that and its 3-4 after Bama and struggling to make a bowl. If we're 3-4 after Bama I could see an interim to finish out the season.

This is all true. But there is something to be said about streaks and the mindset that comes with it. Think about us and KY or Vandy no matter the game we would beat them and there were times they were the better team but we would pull it out. Same with us and Fl somehow no matter who the coach was Fulmer, Kiffin, Doofus, Butch lose at Florida no matter if they had the better team it not. It's tough but there is a lot still left to play for this year.

Yep. Currie has hung tough, despite CBJ hiring a more aggressive agent. CBJ is in contract purgatory.

Georgia on is going to be tough. Lose it and he would have to win every game he is supposed to. I think that much pressure will be tough to handle. Cause finishing 7-5 there def will be enough reason to let him go depending who he loses to.

I dont agree with tou much but i do here. Whoever is at qb needs a majority of the reps with the starting wr, get ebwryone on the same page.

If we're 3-4 there will be plenty on here saying we need to keep the staff to make sure we don't miss out on bowl practices. Some people will never change their mind, same as when Dooley was fired

So on a play that we needed 10+ yards to convert on 3rd down, the play was actually supposed to be 4 yards shorter and Dormady still threw it 9 1/2 feet high at the 9 yard spot?

I still feel the same. 50/50 shared responsibility. It was a bad pass and a tough catch.

Ya, if that's true, it means coaches are even dumber than I thought and Dormady is even less accurate than I thought.

Just listened to Butch's press conference and he reminded me of Jeff Fisher saying it wasnt possible to get Randy Moss and Kenny Britt in the field at the same time because they played the same position. Smh
