That is the epitome of accepting mediocrity. And the way I see it is, this is Tennessee football, one of the elite schools of college football and that isn't good enough. And besides, this is Butch's year 5 and we've never sniffed 10 wins.

Alabama went through a period where they won 8 and 9 games a year... They didn't accept it and went through so many coaches till they found the right guy. Tennessee should do the same.

Those Bama years were much worse than you are representing.

Don't know the nitty gritty details and don't care enough to google it. My point was, when their AD knew that a guy they hired isn't championship material, they cut their losses and went with the next guy till they found Saban.

Do you think Butch is at a minimum and SEC east championship competing coach? I don't.

Sure he is competing for it already. He has thru next year to win it imo

Do you believe the odds are remotely good that he will win it next year with road trips to Athens and Auburn on the schedule and the annual Bama loss penciled in?

When UF and UGA are as bad as they are, and the east is as bad as it's been, 8-9 wins is not acceptable as the norm.

I didn't realize we had lost to UGA. I actually thought we currently have a 2-game winning streak against them. And I will bet you that Vegas and the FPI will disagree with your assertion that UGA is a bad team.

I wanted to beat UF as much as anyone, but there was a reason Vegas had UF favored in that game and the FPI had them as a 68% favorite to win. Everyone based it off the one game with Michigan, who has a ferocious front 4. And I kept hearing because UF had 9 players suspended, although as UF fans were saying, only Calloway and Scarlett were even meaningful. And the gators had plenty of depth at both positions. And UT had more starters out than UF did, with our best receiver out, the leader of our defense out in DKjr, TKjr out, and Austin Smith out, a preseason projected starter at OLB. So injuries vs suspensions were at best a wash.

And I don't understand why our fans didn't think we would have growing pains at least early in the schedule with an inexperienced QB, who had no previous snaps in big games, was playing in his first away game, with a lot of inexperienced WRs. And with a new OC. Who, by the way, called a better game than our fans want to admit.

I think we are in one of those movies like Groundhog Day where once you learn to just be happy with what you have all will finally fall into place. We're doomed.

From FF

On the Tony Basilio Show it was stated that Antone Davis was not allowed to travel with the team to Florida. It was also stated that Antone had to drive his personal car to ATL for the GA Tech game.

Apparently other former players confirming. I will admit I have no idea who all goes to an away game.

Screw Vegas. If there ever was a year to stomp the living crap out of Florida it was this year... Tennessee pi**ed that game away. Bad coaching, poor QB play, bad luck, whatever. We should have beaten this horrible Florida team to a pulp but we crapped our pants instead.

The problem is we have been outcoached way too often

I'm disappointed in the outcome of the Florida game too but per usual Tony looking for a reason to stir the pot.

I didn't hear them say it. And when they said they had Brice coming on I turned it off.

Too many things like that get "reported" these days. Falls under the category of stuff we are better off not knowing.

I never said we lost to UGA. I said in a bad east, 8-9 shouldn't be the norm. You don't get a pass for losing to Vandy and USC because you beat a bad UGA and UF team.

Uf had almost as many injuries to starters + they had suspensions.

If you watched that game and thought they fielded a better team, which is basically what you're saying, then you're in a very, very small minority.

He was just in a Vol Network video about helping the Florida families that stayed at UT during the hurricane, so he is definitely still active.

Just imagine how out of control the rumor mill will spin if we lose to UGA. The Mack Crowder gut punch rumor came out after the loss to Arkansas.

Yeah, this isn't that big of a deal imo

Butch has done plenty wrong but he doesn't deserve a smear campaign.

Currie sounds like he has his stuff together. I know it's hard for us to imagine an AD that holds people accountable. I'm going to choose to have faith that he will handle it correctly.

Plenty of season remaining for Butch to get compliant or get to updating resume.
