That is the epitome of accepting mediocrity. And the way I see it is, this is Tennessee football, one of the elite schools of college football and that isn't good enough. And besides, this is Butch's year 5 and we've never sniffed 10 wins.
Alabama went through a period where they won 8 and 9 games a year... They didn't accept it and went through so many coaches till they found the right guy. Tennessee should do the same.
It's $3 million.

This is based off his last contract extension which he signed in December 2015.
Those Bama years were much worse than you are representing.
Don't know the nitty gritty details and don't care enough to google it. My point was, when their AD knew that a guy they hired isn't championship material, they cut their losses and went with the next guy till they found Saban.
Do you think Butch is at a minimum and SEC east championship competing coach? I don't.
When UF and UGA are as bad as they are, and the east is as bad as it's been, 8-9 wins is not acceptable as the norm.
On the Tony Basilio Show it was stated that Antone Davis was not allowed to travel with the team to Florida. It was also stated that Antone had to drive his personal car to ATL for the GA Tech game.
I didn't realize we had lost to UGA. I actually thought we currently have a 2-game winning streak against them. And I will bet you that Vegas and the FPI will disagree with your assertion that UGA is a bad team.
I wanted to beat UF as much as anyone, but there was a reason Vegas had UF favored in that game and the FPI had them as a 68% favorite to win. Everyone based it off the one game with Michigan, who has a ferocious front 4. And I kept hearing because UF had 9 players suspended, although as UF fans were saying, only Calloway and Scarlett were even meaningful. And the gators had plenty of depth at both positions. And UT had more starters out than UF did, with our best receiver out, the leader of our defense out in DKjr, TKjr out, and Austin Smith out, a preseason projected starter at OLB. So injuries vs suspensions were at best a wash.
And I don't understand why our fans didn't think we would have growing pains at least early in the schedule with an inexperienced QB, who had no previous snaps in big games, was playing in his first away game, with a lot of inexperienced WRs. And with a new OC. Who, by the way, called a better game than our fans want to admit.

I'm disappointed in the outcome of the Florida game too but per usual Tony looking for a reason to stir the pot.

I didn't hear them say it. And when they said they had Brice coming on I turned it off.
Too many things like that get "reported" these days. Falls under the category of stuff we are better off not knowing.

Yeah, this isn't that big of a deal imo
