major difference. Curt came in at about 200 lbs as a true freshman and grew to be 238 while not losing any of his speed. This kid is already 228 lbs right now with 4.57 speed. I mean no disrespect to Curt cause he's been an amazing player for us and will have a great career in the NFL, but Darrell Taylor is on another level ATHLETICALLY.
he has a chance to be a Jevon Kearse type player once he gets on a college weight program. another thing most people don't know is he was a really good basketball player in high school and would lose alot of weight playing basketball. I could see him becoming about 250 lbs by his sophmore year. When that happens, SEC beware cause he's gonna wreck havoc.
IMO no one in this class has a higher ceiling than this kid. even the great Kahlil McKenzie.
what I meant was in comparison to guys like Cowart and Jefferson. i think in 4 years folks will be wondering why those guys were more coveted.
We have the most injury prone players that I have ever seen. Can't even get through a simple few practices without tweaking or injuring something.
We need a lot less info about the team IMO. We stress every time a player stubs his toe or tweets out a weird song lyric. Grab a drink and just enjoy the ride. Quit obsessing over EVVVVVVVVERYTHING. We can't change any of it anyway so we might as well hang on because CBJ is the man and for better or worse he is leading our team this year. He makes the calls and he is ultimately responsible. He will manage the playtime and the timeouts how he wants and if it gets him fired then so be it. Just chill out. We get to watch Vol Football tomorrow!
Callaway was #2 behind JJ. It's not like he was buried on the depth chart. Palmer was the starter in the other side, and even the media had reported that he had a great fall camp. I don't see that as a big deal. He got his chance and showed his skills.
I do expect a lot of guys playing tomorrow. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if a few don't play at all.
Crazy trend... almost makes you wonder about the possible lack of ligament and joint strength surrounding the knee... complete faith in Rock, but it does make you think...
Do we know that Bituli wouldn't have played if Smith had been healthy? All I heard/read after Smith's injury was that it be McDowell/Bates/Jumper and that definitely wasn't right.
Have other boards mentioned JG already wanting to transfer or just this one poster mentioned by UTProf? It's very concerning and of course ESPN would have to shine a big spotlight on it to make it worse. I don't doubt that JG is upset, but hopefully he will remember how Hurd ended up making ,what we know now, a horrible decision. Im sure Butch lead him to believe he would play last Saturday- I'm also sure a lot of other coaches promise the same things and sometimes the flow of the game doesn't dictate a change. The grass isn't always greener. Is he honestly refusing to practice? Seems like his dad would tell him that kind of attitude isn't going to fly at other big programs either. Really hoping he gets to play a lot tomorrow and it all works out.
Sorry but if ur on the FIRE BUTCH EXPRESS u can't have Mrs Jones dip..

CBJ kept a tight lid on personnel decisions. Some of the players didn't know they were starting until right before the game and they didn't know for sure what position they would be playing. Some starters were limited; others played the whole game; some didn't go in at all-- and nobody really knew what to expect.
Don't listen to their pod but heard Hubbs on the radio yesterday. He, like most of us, was perplexed by Callaway being the 4th or 5th WR on the field. He said he probably would not have played had Josh Smith been healthy. He also said Bituli would not have played had Austin Smith (and Kirkland but that makes some sense) been available. He was also worried about the defensive line rotation (playing too few guys too many snaps).
