We have the most injury prone players that I have ever seen. Can't even get through a simple few practices without tweaking or injuring something.

So knee issues--- Kirkland, Hall, Smith, Berry, Byrd, Sapp, Vickers, .... who am I missing? What's up with the knee trend here?

major difference. Curt came in at about 200 lbs as a true freshman and grew to be 238 while not losing any of his speed. This kid is already 228 lbs right now with 4.57 speed. I mean no disrespect to Curt cause he's been an amazing player for us and will have a great career in the NFL, but Darrell Taylor is on another level ATHLETICALLY.

he has a chance to be a Jevon Kearse type player once he gets on a college weight program. another thing most people don't know is he was a really good basketball player in high school and would lose alot of weight playing basketball. I could see him becoming about 250 lbs by his sophmore year. When that happens, SEC beware cause he's gonna wreck havoc.

IMO no one in this class has a higher ceiling than this kid. even the great Kahlil McKenzie.

Prophetic Posting by me once again.

Darrell Taylor is becoming that great player I forcasted when he signed in 2015.

what I meant was in comparison to guys like Cowart and Jefferson. i think in 4 years folks will be wondering why those guys were more coveted.

Darrell Taylor has already had significantly more impact than Byron Cowart. The #1 player in the class of 2015 according to many.

Just goes to show these recruiting guys don't know what they are talking about.

Wow, u really were ignored as a child. But, ok, this one time I'll give u what u need. Nice call on Taylor, D4H

Jones and Calbert both OFS, but Calbert's was pre-existing.

Crazy trend... almost makes you wonder about the possible lack of ligament and joint strength surrounding the knee... complete faith in Rock, but it does make you think...

Imo We have a culture of missing practice for bumps and bruises. We have a coach that lies on the side of caution and I have no doubt many players takes advantage of that.

We need a lot less info about the team IMO. We stress every time a player stubs his toe or tweets out a weird song lyric. Grab a drink and just enjoy the ride. Quit obsessing over EVVVVVVVVERYTHING. We can't change any of it anyway so we might as well hang on because CBJ is the man and for better or worse he is leading our team this year. He makes the calls and he is ultimately responsible. He will manage the playtime and the timeouts how he wants and if it gets him fired then so be it. Just chill out. We get to watch Vol Football tomorrow!

Here here!! I agree 1,000,000%! I am so tired of all of the over analyzing of every single tidbit of information. Sometimes it makes me want to stop coming on this board, except that I enjoy the banter with some of you morans, as well as the info that I get here.

Callaway was #2 behind JJ. It's not like he was buried on the depth chart. Palmer was the starter in the other side, and even the media had reported that he had a great fall camp. I don't see that as a big deal. He got his chance and showed his skills.

I do expect a lot of guys playing tomorrow. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if a few don't play at all.

I will be perfectly fine with a few of our starters not playing at all.

People all crying about this but honestly that's pretty cool that Mrs. Jones makes them dip.

I'm all aboard the "fire Butch" express, and I'm sick of the stupid gimmicks, but I approve of this.

Sorry but if ur on the FIRE BUTCH EXPRESS u can't have Mrs Jones dip..

A lot of teams already have starters out with knee injuries this year. Tough season.

Hope we can get through this 13-day stretch without more fatigue injuries. The players were so sore they barely practiced in pads this week-- and a lot of players had limited reps.

Do we know that Bituli wouldn't have played if Smith had been healthy? All I heard/read after Smith's injury was that it be McDowell/Bates/Jumper and that definitely wasn't right.

That is coming from vq that clearly was wrong about bates. They have no clue who would have played and who wouldn't since
They blew it even after smith was hurt.

Have other boards mentioned JG already wanting to transfer or just this one poster mentioned by UTProf? It's very concerning and of course ESPN would have to shine a big spotlight on it to make it worse. I don't doubt that JG is upset, but hopefully he will remember how Hurd ended up making ,what we know now, a horrible decision. Im sure Butch lead him to believe he would play last Saturday- I'm also sure a lot of other coaches promise the same things and sometimes the flow of the game doesn't dictate a change. The grass isn't always greener. Is he honestly refusing to practice? Seems like his dad would tell him that kind of attitude isn't going to fly at other big programs either. Really hoping he gets to play a lot tomorrow and it all works out.

It's basically just one guy. His connections are via media guys so tifwiw. Media peeps are hit or miss on inside info. I'm personally very skeptical of it and think that if it was mentioned it was nothing more than steam being blown off.

Haha, it's like if you watched All or Nothing season with, I think, the Cardinals, one player's (Patrick Peterson?) wife made the team cookies if they won. Those guys were all about some victory cookies. I mean I'm sure they could find somebody to make their own cookies and nobody is out on the field like "man, I'm making millions of dollars but I'm gonna really play hard for a chocolate chip cookie."

It was just the relationship and sense of community that it fostered within the team that was both important and tangible.

I don't think I'm wrong about Butch, but stuff like this makes me hope I am.

CBJ kept a tight lid on personnel decisions. Some of the players didn't know they were starting until right before the game and they didn't know for sure what position they would be playing. Some starters were limited; others played the whole game; some didn't go in at all-- and nobody really knew what to expect.

Considering Jumper, McDowell, and Bituli averaged like 90/96 snaps and even the DL averaged like 80 snaps apiece in a game where we got roasted for about 600 yards, it's hard to imagine that the only reason they didn't sub is because Austin Smith got hurt.

I think they're basing their commentary off the pre-game depth chart which had Smith, Jumper, and McDowell listed as the starters. No additional depth chart was released after the injury, which is why nobody knew which LB would play or where.

But why? Seems counter productive to our guys

Don't listen to their pod but heard Hubbs on the radio yesterday. He, like most of us, was perplexed by Callaway being the 4th or 5th WR on the field. He said he probably would not have played had Josh Smith been healthy. He also said Bituli would not have played had Austin Smith (and Kirkland but that makes some sense) been available. He was also worried about the defensive line rotation (playing too few guys too many snaps).

Picou and A Johnson were limited due to injury issues, are you going to throw fresmen out there? I'm perfectly willing to throw everything about this last game out and see how things go from Fla on..
Too much being made about this first game..jmo
