Seems to me the negas on twitter need to back off and realize this is an internal thing that the players love. Vol Twitter is sharing it with fans mainly because those of us who 'get it' enjoy seeing our young men get credit for something.

Even Finance makes fun of the Admin folks. :eek:lol:

I had one kid that was like friggin Tackleberry from Police Academy. Boy wanted to shoot some stuff. Don't know why he didn't go combat arms but he was fun to be around. Lifted weights like a mad man. I uses to love to tell him he was getting a little doughy around the middle. He would immediately start doing pushups! :eek:lol:

He should've signed up for infantry and not taken a commission.

CBJ kept a tight lid on personnel decisions. Some of the players didn't know they were starting until right before the game and they didn't know for sure what position they would be playing. Some starters were limited; others played the whole game; some didn't go in at all-- and nobody really knew what to expect.

That's absurd.

But why? Seems counter productive to our guys

IDK. Maybe he thought less info put GT at a disadvantage, maybe he doesn't trust the media, maybe he has a bunker mentality this year or maybe it was just for the opener. IDT he's ever done it that way before.

That's the internet for you. Everything must be meme-ified, turned into a joke or something to be half-informed and miffed about. Anything that takes more than two minutes to read, isn't read.

A lot of teams already have starters out with knee injuries this year. Tough season.

Hope we can get through this 13-day stretch without more fatigue injuries. The players were so sore they barely practiced in pads this week-- and a lot of players had limited reps.

Really wish Tennessee would get away from the Thursday/Monday night games. Especially the Mondays. Not enough recovery time even though we have the Sycamores this week.

So knee issues--- Kirkland, Hall, Smith, Berry, Byrd, Sapp, Vickers, .... who am I missing? What's up with the knee trend here?

Hall, Calbert, Berry, sapp were from prexexisting injuries prior to this season.

So in terms of current season, Kirkland was no contact, no clue on Smith, Byrd we don't know what his injury is, vickers was an ankle. So not really a trend if you are questioning Rock for some reaosn

All that just sounds dysfunctional to me. Have a plan and make sure the players know the plan as far as who's gonna be out there trying to execute it.

Completely ignorant unless it worked. Well it didn't

Had Tennessee lost that game I can't imagine the backlash the coaches would be getting for some of this stuff. Having guys play 90+ plays without really substituting, having the d line a couple yards off the ball every snap and Hoke and Shoop evidently not agreeing, it would be rough. As long as you win though most of that gets swept under the rug. Hopefully some of these things will be worked out by this time next week.

No clue why it went down that way or if it will again. They're practicing some players at multiple positions, partially as a response to the number of injuries last year, as well as an attempt to keep the best players available on the field. So that does make things more fluid.

Callaway was #2 behind JJ. It's not like he was buried on the depth chart. Palmer was the starter in the other side, and even the media had reported that he had a great fall camp. I don't see that as a big deal. He got his chance and showed his skills.

I do expect a lot of guys playing tomorrow. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if a few don't play at all.

Callaway wouldn't have gotten the no. 1 jersey if the coaches and team didn't expect big things from him this season.

I think I answered that in my original post. By all accounts, Palmer had a great fall camp (even by the media).

This will probably be one of those seasons where you see multiple guys have those breakout games at WR instead of 1-2 consistent guys. Based on reports of this group having a ton of explosive talent but being inconsistent with drops or lazy routes at times. It just screams to me that on any given day it could be Callaway, Johnson, Palmer, Byrd, Latrell, smith or Murphy being the guy with the hot hand.

As an example of those passes to Byrd early connect we might be talking about him this week instead of Callaway or along side Callaway. He could have had huge numbers if Dormady didn't have to rush the first throw behind him. That was a house call nobody in front of him

Play the starters for 2 quarters max imo

I would only play them for 1 quarter...They should be able to focus and shut down a FCS school for that short time no matter how sore they are. Score 21 in the first quarter and be done. Turn it over to all of the reserves for the next 3 quarters.

So he deserved to start? And why was Brandon Johnson ahead of him? Johnson is a talent but Callaway looks completely different than the other WRs.

I know he has a relative who posts on this board and I do not want him to take offense to this statement, but I thought Johnson played very soft. He looked like he was scared to get hit. Did not fight for yardage at all after catching the ball.

I don't understand why everyone is complaining. Nobody likes the decisions the staff made last year and even more so bc the general consensus was that they were too stubborn to change. This year, they change staff and game plan to adapt and everybody complains. The fact is, every coach in D-1, especially p5 conferences have been doing this for a LONG time. They didn't just walk in to an interview off the street and get hired. We can all have an opinion but the truth is, ain't nobody on this board been a head coach at this level. And chances are, no one on this board ever will be. It's easy to sit back and criticize and assume and deal in hypotheticals. Let the people that earned the positions do their jobs. If the results don't pan out, the people who make the big decisions will do there jobs.
I swear some of you miss the point about what it means to be a fan.

Indiana State vs our 3rd string defense will be interesting
