Religious debate (split from main board)

The Bible doesn't promise that everything will be rosey here on this earth. The promise of everything being rosey is in the kingdom of heaven.

Why does God allow bad things to happen? God even says in his word that he allows to rain to fall on the just and unjust. Do not "bad things" often bring a lesson? If you have children you should understand this. You try and tell your child this is a bad idea to do that but yet they go ahead and learn the hard way. Thats why we call God our Heavenly Father. He has done the same thing with us, He has told us in His word, right and wrong, yet we as disobedient children do it our own way.

Yes there is suffering in the world, by both Christain and nonchristian. Why would a Loving God allow this? Read the book of Job. It explains it very well. Jesus Himself suffered on the Cross. He was beaten, spit upon, had a crown of thorns forced on his head. He had nails in His hands and feet. Yet through this pain and suffering He willing gave Himself a sacracifice for anyone that would believe eternal life.

I may die from anything, cancer, murder, car wreck, or some other way. It will not effect my faith in God because it happens to me. Because I understand that this life is nothing but a trial. I have a better home awaiting!

Romans is every ones favorite book!

I'm kinda partial to John, myself, followed by Philippians.

The truly awesome thing to me is that some of those on here that are arguing so vehemently against Christ, will some day be arguing just as passionately for Him. Some of us take a similar path to faith that Paul did. :wink2:

Let's hope so before it is too late to argue.

Good Points.

And Jesus also told the apostles, that they would be persecuted for their belief in him.

The soil is the most fertile in the valley, so if you (or God) are planting seeds it's often best to plant them during the lows versus the highs... people are also most fertile when they're in the valley.

So what the rev was saying is that bammers go to heaven? So under the rule stated no one who is good gets in if they do not believe in the Jesus. I thank the lord everytime I read stuff like that for being born Jewish. He spared me much humiliation and absurdity.

Are you saying that you are exempt?

You ARE a "chosen" one.

I will also say this to be clear. There are MANY, many awesome and great people that are not Christians. That being said all that matters is if you have asked Christ to forgive you of your sins and then how your living your life to please him. There will be a lot of "nice" people not going to heaven.

Response to Beecher. What else could he mean? Awesome people where do they go if Jesus is not their homeboy?

May have misinterpreted post what were you saying?

I think what he was trying to say, is that works alone, will not inherit eternal life in God's kingdom.

As someone from Jewish decent, what is your opinion of what he said? Other than what you previously stated.

That belief is a vessel for good works. It makes being good possible for many who without are weak. However, belief is not a key in itself to anything. Works are the key whether that means eternal life I have not a clue.

I believe that your "works" are a reflection of your faith.

I would see it hard, to have works in something, that you do not believe in/have faith in.

Yes. But chosen to be an example not for any heavenly gifts. The term is often misused even by less knowledgable Jews.
