The song is political and it's huge, so it makes sense.
I like this song too, despite some of the lyrical problems I take issue with (kinda like my criticisms in this thread). It's basically got an inverse relationship with Richmond. It's hip-hop. Its gripes relate more to social justice, wars, and stuff like that. Although it complains about taxes and spending, too. Richmond yearns for a better America he once knew. Ali decries a past that was worse. Neither is wrong about the underlying message.
You better believe if this song were #1, people would be over-thinking the lyrics.
