Robert Hubbs: Underachiever in the making or is it coaching?

I see the bball posters are alot like the football posters these days......ridiculous expectations, knee jerk reactions, and absurd conclusions.

So why are you going to watch? Watching the ineptness and wastefulness of the talent doesn't depress you?

Bro I'm a Tennessee fan for life. I don't give a **** if we have two losing programs in football or basketball I'll always watch UT. Now will I call for a coaches head if he needs be fired? Hell ya, but I'll still watch the games. Btw I think most of the Zo criticism is unwarranted 9 games in. I hope Zo makes it but if we see the same **** we have seen the past 2 years he will be fired in 2 years

You are probably right because of the contract but I stopped watching when Wade Houston was coaching, and when Buzz Petersen was coaching and will stop watching now. (P.S.-I even stopped watching when Green was coaching-couldn't take it anymore. But I never stopped watching when Pearl was coaching.)

"Ridiculous expectations" ......are you serious? Wanting him to beat UTEP or have his team ever to play to their potential is ridiculous? Ever?

Is no one even going to point out the fact that Hubbs was not a McDonald's All American? OP doesn't even know what he's talking about

This is where people need to get real. This incoming recruiting class is not that good. Every D1, even some D2 prospects look freakish in high school.

This is silly. Coaching utterly blows, but this recruiting class is very good.

Hubbs is going to be a great player. He is very athletic and has a nice stroke shooting the ball, it's more of a confidence thing right now. When his shots start falling, I think we'll see the player we all expected to see. It may not happen until next season, but it will happen. AJ Davis is going to be one heck of a player as well, as is Thompson. Excellent freshman class!

Agree. Let's hope we get a coach who can coach them before they leave.

ah good. i actually went through at searched for the term "mcdonalds" on every page and didn't see one.

theres a huge difference in being nominated (over 800) vs actually being named one (24).

Believe he was the 20th ranked player but didn't get picked. Either they knew something or there were a lot of shooting guards ahead of him and they needed other positions.

Hubbs is simply not the type of player Parker is right now. Parker is NBA ready today, he is a future NBA all star. I watched Hubbs play dozens of times in high school, I never once said "that kid is a future NBA Allstar." He has a bright (4) yr future with the Vols but he is not a lottery pick anytime soon...

Jordan McRae didn't develop?

Also to the op Hubbs wasn't a MDAA. Parker has been called the next Lebron since 10 grade and played more on the wing than Hubbs did in hs. He is also 6'8 235. Hubbs played the 5 in hs because he was the tallest player. He will be fine when he takes over next year.

Jordan has developed some on his own just through mere experience, however, he could be a ton better than he is. If he were being coached up by a real coach like Coach K, Izzo, or Self, he would probably be a lottery pick next year.

If Cuonzo is such a great coach, how come Stokes, Maymon, Moore, and the rest of the players he's had during his time here haven't gotten any better at all. They've all pretty much remained the same mediocre players they've always been.

My guess is the same thing will happen with Hubbs if Cuonzo is allowed to hang around.

Coming into the season I believe most expected a bit more from him, but you see he has the ability he just needs to turn it up because this team needs another wing scorer in the worst way. Time for Hubbs to step it up.

Some 5 star players take a little more time to develop than others. Give him some time and he will be lighting it up
