Rucker: Nico is being redshirted

Why would Milton opt out. To save himself for his nfl career? Not sure that’s gonna help

Actually a lot of the national talking heads on ESPN / Sirius XM sports shows have said he may still get drafted super late just based on his arm, physique, and athleticism alone. Sorta like Anthony Richardson last year...........looked like crap in at UF, yet got picked up in the NFL anyways. So yes, it is possible. Do I think he'll thrive? probably not unless he's moved to another position. And honestly, as good a dude as I think he is personally and competitor, etc........I'm ready to move on and see the future.

Heupel needs to be called out on this but the wimpy media like Rucker won’t.

Once again - if Nico is the real deal, he is gone after the 2025 season to the NFL. The redshirt is meaningless. What a dumb excuse. I’d rather him take the soft approach and say he didn’t want Nico to play against Georgia.

I mean we literally had our last two coaches ride the same QB to the unemployment line.

He should have the common sense to not make the same damned mistake as his predecessors.

Like if we’re sitting at the same exact record right now with Nico, I’m not nearly as frustrated. At least I feel like we’re progressing toward next season. Now I wonder if Heupel is just the final head on Mt Rushmore of assclown coaches in Tennessee history.
Good point, I’m just not willing to call the last 2 goofballs actual “coaches”

Well we’re in bad shape and we need someone
We're gonna finish 8-4. I'm not thrilled with the way we've played and won't be satisfied with it long term but to keep things in perspective we've only had 4 seasons where we won 8 or more regular season games since 2007.

It may not make sense to you but what if Nico gets hurt next year and is out for the season?? Then he may need the RS. I think he should have played more this season but what was the point is burning his RS in a game we weren’t winning?

For what ? Lol if he’s as good as advertised he’s gonna be gone anyways so we will only get him for two years
I keep seeing these assertions that Nico will be gone in a couple of years...3 at the most. Who said that? Maybe he and his family are on a 4 year plan? Academics and graduation are priorities?

This!!! I live in Maryville and frequently listen to the sports talk shows,.All year long I’ve heard media guys and VFL’s say Nico is not ready.Yet every armchair QB and redneck in Tennessee think he is.

Media guys don't know anymore than anybody else. It's obvious that Milton isn't either.

Guys graduate in 3 years these days. He won't be here for 4 yrs if he truly is our next great QB.

The whole fixation on not burning a redshirt is absurd. If your plan is to have Nico be the next starter for your program going forward, basing everything on the redshirt is dumb. Heupel thinks people are stupid to fall for it. Of course Rucker is stupid so naturally he wouldn’t push back on it.

If the game’s end result is already locked up, there is no upside to keeping the current starter out there due to injury risks and there is no downside to keeping next year’s starter off the field.

Dobbs took over as starter after playing all but the first two series vs #1 Bama.

This whole Notion that Nico is too much of an injury risk is idiotic. Anyone can get hurt against anyone. So why even play the game? Jordan Travis just lost his season against the little sisters of the poor. Was Norvell stupid for him to play a single snap today?

You have no concept of the difference of money obviously for NFL vs College but hey maybe you’ll be right hahah

Been saying all along. If no one plays football, then no one will get hurt playing football. He could get hurt on first play, or may never get hurt. That’s not a reason not to play

See your point, but I was just referring to the qb position. Our current qb is just not a winner or leader. We need help there
