SEC Presidents have Blocked A&M from coming to the SEC

This is Stuart Mandel's latest tweet. "RT @Matt_HayesSN: Source on "meeting" today: Conf call/w SEC attorneys and Machen. Released legal statement to protect the league."

You don't have too. What makes one laugh, doesn't always make others.

Exactly. I think it's hilarious. Once again the Aggies get spurned in their search for a new conference. Take your search for a handout elsewhere aTm, the SEC is fine just the way it is. Sorry you have to play second fiddle to Texas.

So you think this whole A&M deal is completely over?

What I think funny is that you apparently didn't read anything but the title of the article. This is a move made by the SEC to prevent legal issues. Once A&M officially leaves the big 12 they will get their invite.

Interesting read. Always good to see something like this from the technical/legal side.

This will be picked back later this week. There are some legal issues that have to be sorted out first. Most of them deal with TV contracts and break up damage lawsuits.

This is just my opinion but I just don't think this is done yet. I haven't heard Rosie O'Donnell sing yet.

Soon he will have little nick names for the two of you.
Haha. He was right I should have read the article before I commented, but I stand by my previous comment of him needing a stick removal.

Sounds like another reason for the rejection is not having that 14th team yet, and some complications arising with the potential teams named (Clemson, Mizzou, and FL ST.). An article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution suggests this and says they are looking elsewhere for the 14th member school:

Atlanta Journal Constitution report on SEC Meeting Today.

The only potential barrier to an overwhelmingly favorable vote by SEC Presidents....the sticky problem of who to invite as a 14th Member. One insider suggests Louisville would present the fewest obstacles, provided UK does not object.

Its makes sense. Too many unknowns? Who's the 14th team? How much will the ESPN contract be worth? How will divisions realign?

The only interest the SEC had in TA&M was to try an spear head a 14 team conference if the other big conferences were also going to 14. But unless the SEC can lure Oklahoma or Texas to come then there's no reason to take another Big 12 team.

Headline fail. They have simply released a statement saying they have not yet offered an invitation to A&M.

It may or may not happen, but they have not "blocked" A&M.
