Serious QB discussion

Concerning Peyton.......he would run this offense to precision like standards. They might add some under-center plays, but his ball handling in the backfield would lead to some RPO scampers for 10 yards and a slide😊
Peyton "scamper?" Not exactly. 😁

I recall him running a little but he's repeatedly said he does not like contact. Oddly, he's not that much smaller than Milton. I've met Peyton at different events and he's got to be 6'4" and he's never been a rail.

If he were playing today VN would want him to truck linebackers.

Joe is not as good as Hooker. Joe started over Hooker.

There is a history of Joe starting over a better QB.
Lol neither of those guys had taken a snap in a Tennessee uniform when Heupel started Milton. None of that matters really.

Milton is not an elite QB and will never be elite. The piss poor, throw it up for grabs interception at Florida and the freeze up on 4th down against A&M are but 2 examples. Did Nico burn his red shirt status by playing a few downs?
Your making an assumption that you dont know the answer to. No he didn't burn his red shirt and it has been noted Nico's parents want a red shirt. He needs a year in the weights and to get his body right. Give him that.

And instead of trucking LBs, he would slide safely after a modest gain. Every receiver would have multiple receptions and YAC

Think of Denver 2012-2014

Peyton, film freak he is, would've studied those secondaries and known who could be looked off easily or fooled by this route or that route. Surgical precision.

The "problem" would be that Coach Heupel would never know what play was going to actually be executed because Peyton gonna Peyton at the line every. single. time.

And that would be ok. It was rumored Peyton called many first and second downs while at UT. He always had at least 3 options

I'm still trying to understand that QB stat called "Wins," so cut me some slack man! Not all of us are experts!
You don't need to be remotely close to "expert" status to know Manning was almost hilariously better than Dilfer. No, not almost. Even Dilfer himself would fall off his chair in laughter at anyone suggesting he compares to Manning

There's a lot of ignorance and stupidity in this thread, much like any thread in the political forum. Kind of like someone claiming to be better at their job than Rick Barnes is at his job.😉
I think we have covered that topic. Or we could keep doing the Rain Man thing.

One can drive the pee out of the CJH Maserati offense. The other runs out of bounds at the wrong spot and time. That’s facts.

I don’t know what’s more annoying:

The ones who beat down Joe Milton any chance they get.

Or….

The ones who think Nico is the next Joe Montana.

This reminds me of the Harrison Bailey days where everyone thought he was the answer just because he had 5 stars next to his name.

I am not for putting Nico in unless the coaches think he will be better (truthfully, even they don't really know until it occurs).

But, I sure hope Nico will be better than Harrison, or next year is NOT going to a good one!!

Whew!!!

Some people pretty sensitive about coach.

Can't mention a perceived weakness. Evidently JH is the second perfect person in history.

Those of you who keep saying CJH played Milton over Hooker want to ignore the whys around that so you can make it look like Nico is the second coming of Manning - which while that would be great, no one has a clue if that is the case or not.

Both Milton and Hooker lost their starting positions at other universities which is why they came to Tennessee,
All CJH had to go on is what he saw in practice and possibly on film from prior games.
Milton looked better in those practices which is why he was named the starter. That is what any coach would and should do.

With Hooker, the lights obviously "turn on" when he is in a real game, so when the opportunity happened. He took advantage of that. He also has some NFL type WRs who were capable of catching anything they could touch.

This offense is not going to be like last year's, and it doesn't have to be for us to be successful. A team only needs to score 1 more point than the opponent to win. A good coach will use the strengths of their team as those speak to the weakness of the other team. That is what we saw against A&M. We don't have the personnel at WR or QB that we had last year to be pass happy. We do have running backs and a QB that could run over folks with his size.

Some of you seem to be more interested in having the team and/or players rank in the top of the stats and would gladly trade wins for that to happen, which honestly boggles my mind. If you followed Tennessee football back in 1998 I don't know how you survived that championship run because some of those games were not pretty.
