Shaka Smart Not Interested in TN Job And is Willing to Wait for "Perfect Job"

It's also funny (directed at homefry) to think you're a national powerhouse when you're best school in your conference 9 outta 10 years (Mempiss) and expect to win the NCAAs each year. Cheating SAT's and all... :)

I'm a Memphis Alum., and the delusion that some of the fans there have is 2nd to none.

As stated earlier, it is very easy to turn down a job you were never contacted about.

Hey may have never been contacted, but im pretty sure for the past few days everybody has been asking him about it. So i bet he did himself and his employer a favor by just going ahead and saying hes not interested to get people like you to shut up about it.

I bet his current employer is not happy about him looking for the "perfect job."

If he said that, then he must not be a good PR person.

lol, why is everybody hating on Shaka so much? The guy has been there less than 2 years and has them in the sweet 16. I'm not saying I want him as a coach, but after reading this board you would think he was the biggest hack in college basketball.

The "we" can get a great coach crowd will put anyone
down that doesn't want our great facilities and huge paycheck. lmao

SHAKA SMART NOT INTERESTED IN TN JOB.
per Rob Lewis. I'd say it's pretty easy to not be interested in a job when they're not interested in you.
THE FEELING IS MUTUAL, MY FRIEND.

Ha ha! Was going to say the same exact thing. I bet he's saying "whoops!" in the back of his mind right now. "Boss, I'm waiting for the perfect job so I can get the hell out of here like everyone else!...Oh, and thanks for the opportunity!"

Look, Pearl was never "officially" offered the Memphis job but the necessary boosters (who are more involved than the AD in bball coaching decisions) negotiating details of a contrat with him. He basically took that info back to Knoxville and said "I want this here or im leaving"

Actually he never expressed interest in the Memphis job, they expressed interest in Pearl. They were offering Bruce more money at that time, so we felt it would be in our best interest to pay him more like he deserved at that time. At no point in that time frame did Bruce say he was interested in that job though.

Come on. It's very easy to turn down jobs that you haven't been offered nor even had a discussion about. Pearl was good at it.

We're probably going to end up with a high school coach. No one could possibly hope to fill the shoes of the Great Bruce Pearl.

Nice dig at Pearl. I figured that ship had sailed but I guess hat hasnt given you your new lines yet. Anyways, how do you know smart hasnt even been discussed?
