So I Got a Bone to Pick About Our Corporate Sponsors...

This site is literally the only place where I see people who like Adidas more than Nike. Everyone I know would rather have Nike. My friends here at UT want Nike, and even my friends at Mississippi State (who give Adidas much more variety and freedom) want Nike. It's not even about on-field uniforms, the apparel they make is just so much better. That swoosh sells to fans and recruits.

Addressing the uniforms, people on this site automatically cry "oregon" when thinking of a Nike uniform, but what many people forget is that Nike makes damn good looking conventional uniforms as well. Look at Alabama, they have crisp, modern, yet traditional pro combats that are just as cool as Oregon's bright yellow and green.
I don't buy apparel because it is Adidas or Nike I buy it because it say GO VOLS!!! on it. I could care less about if it has a stupid swoosh on it.

Dish and Adidas are second-tier brands. Plain and simple. To the handful of posts suggesting otherwise, you are simply denying reality. Sales figures and market share don't lie.

If our AD supports a big donor alumnus like the owner of Dish over the market leader, I understand the politics, but it doesn't make the end product better.

If it ain't about image or product and it's only about money, I look forward to our future Jumbotron sponsored by Vivid Entertainment. ;-)

Considering these are 17-21 yo kids that probably think about sex even more than football, I think adidas is fitting.

What in the world?

Adidas and Nike are like Coke and Pepsi. (distributors)

Tennessee is like a soda recipe with in-house branding.

The distributor and Tennessee make a deal w/ each other.

Don't blame Adidas. Blame our past crappy performances from a couple of years ago. We were missing a few sugars in our flavor.

As to Nike vs. Adidas...I don't really think one is superior to the other, overall. I probably own more Adidas stuff, honestly (tees, Climacool, tennis and golf shoes, golf shirts). I don't quite see why some people care so much. It isn't like we are out there in Reeboks.

well....:p

maybe he supports those most willing to give to UT. What makes you believe Direct is even willing to sponsor UT athletics?

Dish and Direct is a push and who gives a sh#&. I have Dish because they support my big orange, had Direct, no difference. Nike clothes suck! The shoes are thin and don't last. Underarmour shoes suck. A foot doctor recently asked me what kind of shoes I wore, he said so many people wear ua and it's the worst shoe you can buy. My son had 2 pair, they literally fell apart in 6 months each. Addidas makes a quality product.:twocents:

Logic fail for OP. Number one, Ergen is an alum and a billionaire. Number two, if 90% of schools are Nike (which I doubt, but that was the claim) then how does that possibly influence the tier that your school is placed? Does that mean that 90% of schools are top tier schools? I don't understand that reasoning.

If you're a NFL fan then I think you would prefer Dish Network's NFL Redzone over Direct TV's Sunday Ticket. Redzone manages the viewing of games the same way that I actually watch tv. I constantly switch between games looking for highlights and that's exactly what Redzone does. Also they replay every TD that was scored on Sunday in a montage at the end of the program. I love it.

red zone is on a large number of providers (including comcrap and direct). it is not exclusive to your Dish.

if you don't like it, then form your own billion dollar revenue company and bid them out of the contract. you should feel the difference between a nike t-shirt of the past few years to one from 8-10 years ago. you might think twice about nike, then.

Let's compare Walmart sales figures to nike and adidas. Let them be a sponsor! Great sales figures crappy products.
Look at the history between adidas and UT! They have been partners since before Nike could afford to pay anyone to use their products! I do not think we have ever lost a single game because of who our sponsors were or because their products were inferior. Yet I am sure the financial gain from those relationships have helped to improve training facilities, recruiting budgets, stadium, etc.
Back in the early 70s every kid in Tn had an adidas T-shirt and could spell it because of the all day I dream about sex! Today my 12 year old son loves adidas products as do all his friends.
Besides, you vote doesn't count when they are making sponsor decisions. Mine doesn't either. So why mess with history that has worked for decades and still is working?

The Dish Network comparison was just stupid. But comparing Nike to Adidas is like comparing Kobe to Lebron...Kobe is just way better, and always will be :D

Absolutely false. LeBron in his prime vs kobe in his prime would find LeBron wiping his azz with kobe's jersey.

I personally like the fact that we're in a small group with schools like Michigan, Nebraska, and Notre Dame as Adidas sponsored. We 4 schools are all top-tier when it comes to storied programs. I like both brands though, they both produce better equipment for different things. Golf stuff? Adidas. Soccer gear? Nike. Running Shoes? New Balance. haha

Adidas isn't even close to a second-tier company. I haven't worn Nike shoes, apparrell, etc. since my junior year of high school. Personally, I think Adidas is a brand that focuses on quality over flash. As far as UT goes, I like that we are "different" and don't wear Nike like every other program.

Nike shoes fit me like sh*t and the Nike Va Tech shirts I've been bought fit weird, too.

adidas' ClimaLite stuff is amazing and not so weird/athletic looking that it can't be worn as a t-shirt every once in a while.

Couldn't agree more. Nike basketball shoes have always hurt my feet.
