So proud of my home state

TBH, I don't know. I don't know what or if there is a solution, all I know is it makes me mad. We contribute to the backpack program at a couple Title 1 schools and it pisses me off that programs like that need to exist. Some of the stories I hear just make me want to stomp the crap out of these parents.

Then we have a state legislature spending time and money on legislation to punish drag shows that parents are willingly taking their kids to, and my guess is these parents aren't the ones with kids lugging home a backpack full of food for the weekend. Let's get our damn priorities straight. Which is worse, a hungry kid or a kid seeing some dude dressed as a woman?

Why cant both issues be addressed?

Yes, a beauty pageant is the same as a barely dressed adult gyrating around children.

Amazing the depths some of you will go to try and defend this. You're sick.

Again, I'm not defending anything. I'm speaking out against government overreach.

One has been a problem for a helluva lot longer than the other yet I don't recall it being discussed much around here.
It's because culture war crap is better at getting folks riled up. And it's easier. Not saying there is a lack of merit, but they're more distraction than anything.

Don't take your kid. Boom, they left you alone.

Marketing it as family friendly should definitely be restricted. If a guy in a white lab coat told parents that a daily dose of arsenic is healthy for their kids, a lot of these stupid m'fers would do it. Hell, how many kids got the jab because their gullible parents were told it was safe and necessary? You don't think a bright poster with bold lettering saying "ALL AGES WELCOME!" won't influence a stupid person into think it is ok? It is like hacking the system. Make it seem normal for parents to bring their kids, that way more parents will bring their kids because they think it is normal.

Seriously, though, explain your thinking here.
There are a multitude of ways. The primary objective would be to lessen generational poverty.
You could offer any mother currently receiving assistance:
- a $5000 credit each year she does not get pregnant.
- a one time payment of $5000 to have Norplant or some other type of long-term contraception.
You could also offer financial incentives to males for agreeing to reversible long term contraception.

Ah, that was the disconnect . You're talking folks on assistance.

I don’t think kids should be at sexually explicit shows but I see this push for what it is.

You are so accustomed to being led around by the nose and being told what to do your mind can't fathom another way to live.
Speaking of a mind that can't fathom.........you are the undisputed champ.

We all lead and we all follow - my lead to follow ratio is undoubtedly higher than yours. (but that realization may lie in the unobserved 3rd dimension)

So you want the government to protect stupid people from themselves?

That's how we ended up with these:

Look at that, Luther with a good idea.

You are so personally unaware it's mind boggling.

One has been a problem for a helluva lot longer than the other yet I don't recall it being discussed much around here.

Kids being hungry has been a problem that has never been fixed, which is probably why gov't has put it on the back burner. Again, I think the problem is exaggerated, but whatever. Seems this is now being addressed locally by charities in most locales with the assistance of gov't where needed.

I would guess teen dance competitions. However I would rank that orders of magnitude less disturbing than a scantily clad drag performer gyrating in front of children.

I've never been to a drag show but have been to several of my daughters dance competitions back in the day. The hip-hop dancers did more undulating and gyrating than most middle aged drag queens could manage.
