Marcus, how do u explain homosexuality in animals?

Animals don't have souls in the biblical sense. Nor do they have morals. Some believe because of this none will be in heaven. I believe all will be in heaven but that it will be like in the garden of Eden when animals didn't fear men, and men didn't fear animals. I think animals do whatever "feels good" such as a dog trying to hump your leg. Homosexuality in animals is no different. Its a matter of ignorance.

Blindly placing authority in an inconsistent text is also a matter of ignorance. If someone today told you how you should live your life based upon a conversation they had with a ghost I assume you would call that person insane. Blindly living your life based on supposed miracles that others witnessed is no different.

Again, for about the tenth time in 2 threads...do something about it. You want to be a champion for gay rights? Get out your checkbook. Call your congressman. Start a movement. Vote for people who see things the way you do.

Or you can sit at home and complain about the people that are doing something. That's fast becoming the American way. I wonder how many posters in this forum even vote. Bet my butt its about half. Don't like the direction government is headed in your state? Initiate a change by taking action. I have, and will.

What makes you think anyone here isn't doing that?

Marcus is in the majority. The polls are showing the marriage law will pass by a large margin in NC.

Who knew NC was such a backwards state....

I don't know why, I just always assumed NC was more progressive than most southern states. I guess I was just jumping to conclusions. There are probably a lot of hillbillies scattered in between the major metro areas.

The citizens of North Carolina are just voting to preserve the following stereotypes:

1. Homosexuality is abominable.
2. The citizens of North Carolina are uneducated and backwards hicks.

I imagine that if they got rid of the first stereotype, they would make great progress in getting rid of the second.

I think I came to my incorrect conclusion simply because it was located pretty far north. Kentucky is the proof that geography is no indication of social reason.

Do you think the 29 states now banning same sex marrige are hillbillies ?

There are 29 states now that have a state constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

Do you believe their citizens are uneducated and backward hicks?

Same sex marriage bans are more of a moral issue instead of a religious issue.

I haven't saw the polling but I would venture to say that 50% or more of the voters that voted against the same sex marriage bans in these states never darken the doors of a church.

The "church people" will vote against it but there are more people that do not go to church than goes.

How do you explain their reasons for voting against it ?

I would venture to say you are either completely wrong, or said voters are still bible thumpers nonetheless, going to church or not.

unless it is on the ballot with other elections, the only people voting in these things are activists. Most of the other people realize that gay marriage does not affect their life one bit but aren't going to make a special trip just to override the votes of the morally superior

Do you actually believe the voters in CA or OR are bible thumpers ?

wait....pj and rj....you guys are two of the ones that argue that good morals are just human nature....now they come from the Bible.....I am sooooo confused

not what I said at all. I believe the majority of those pushing amendments like these use the bible as their moral compass

I don't mean in this thread, but in past threads about the Bible......seems like some are playing both sides of the fence when it suits them

still don't see it. What I believe has no bearing on what others use to justify their belief system.

but you seem to deny that non Christians also support this bill do you not? maybe I am off base but it seems that non-believers use the "Bible Thumper" banner only when they think it will garner votes against something.....carry on

I don't believe it would have very much support at all without those "bible thumpers" pushing the agenda. Do you?

no doubt that is the driving force in NC but the same bill has passed in some very non thumping states like CA & OR, so ya I do

The fight against it in California was supported with a huge amount of money from Mormons and Catholics.
