Spurrier being Spurrier. Takes a jab at UT

Steve Spurrier takes shot at Tennessee | For The Win

You have to admit, that is pretty funny. Here's to hoping his 14th isn't too memorable for him!

I like Steve Spurrier and think a lot of what he says is funny. I also attribute our National Championship to having to get tough enough to beat him. When we got that tough we could finally win a national championship! No need to be whiney butts just because a coach took a shot at us. I sure hope our players are tougher than that. The league is better when he is at his best!

Spurrier should be worried about his diminishing coaching and recruiting ability. Or how he has no grip on his team or staff. These days Old man Steve is in the news more for running his mouth and explaining why his players tell him when they're playing. Not much of a jab. Could have been worse coming from that drunk old man.

A lot of butt-hurt in this post.

Spurrier is good coach and nothing more. He's is not in the elite of coaches. He is average at best. Look at his total history in coaching. He couldn't make it in the pros as a coach ( or as a player ). The only way he makes a name for himself right now is that Tennessee is not what they were, Florida is not what they were and Georgia is really the same way. When these three get back the Spurrier can do no better that 4th place in the east. I wonder when south Carolina will wake up and figure out this "has been" is getting paid way too much. The only thing spurrier has mastered is throwing back the bottle. Even Pete Carroll is better coach than "ole ball slush".

Boys, Girls. Look at the OP's screen name CLEMVol. The guy is a Clempson fan that's pissed that SOS has owned Dumbo for the past 4 years. Nothing more, nothing less...

To be honest, Spurrier is constantly calling himself and his coaches out when something isn't going exactly right. These "jabs" he apparently takes at everybody constitute like .5% of whatever he says in public. Also from '05-'10 when we were extremely average he didn't say a peep about anything other than about how crappy the team was.

spurrier is a little punk, but he can flat out coach. remember how terrible south carolina was before he arrived. Now they compete for the east year in and out, and they are constantly ranked in the top 25. strange how programs can flip-flop so fast.

Spurrier is not a punk. Kiffin was/is a punk. There is a big difference. He is just shooting from the hip. I know I'm in the minority, but I love his personality. I can't stand "coach speak" and random cliche's that are recycled. Same reason I love listening to Crazy Les. Have a little personality and mix it up a little.

I'm sorry but that's hilarious! Don't care what anyone says, I love Spurrirer and I'm going to miss him when he retires!

In the mid to late 90s I would get all worked up over his jabs..... I couldn't STAND that florida was beating us year after year and he would just throw salt in the wound. When he went to the NFL the SEC just wasn't the same. I guess that's when I learned to appreciate his humor and now I just chuckle when he says something like that. You have to admit the guy is pretty funny and clever.

Hope we give them a beatdown tomorrow.

You turn 3 perennial losers around and get back to us.

FWIW he also had a lot of nice things to say about Neyland stadium (great atmosphere, great fans, yada, yada), and had good memories of attending games in Neyland with his dad as a kid.

Ah, whatever...I think CBJ will have our guys ready to play tomorrow and how I hope old Stevie is licking his lips til they bleed and running his finger through his hair in exasperation! GBO!!

Why would he worry about "diminishing coaching"? Or do you think he doesn't realize he's getting older and that one day he'll have to hang it up?
