Star Wars: Rogue One

What was everyone's favorite quote? Since it was in the trailers I won't put it in spoiler tags but mine was Saw's, "Save the Rebellion, save the Dream."

Gotta go with the Vader cheese line 'be careful not to choke on your aspirations'.

def love the above line.

probably the funniest lines imo were:

"are you kidding me?! I'm blind!"

and

"I'll be there for you Jyn...the Captain said I had to."

Went back to look at some reviews. Seems most of the (few) negative reactions are that it's not a Saga Episode and that it lacks the "fun" of TFA. NPR's pop culture happy hour compared it to a DC movie vs a Marvel movie. I realize it wasn't as light hearted as most SW films but I actually thought there was plenty of light hearted moments. The ending may have been a little bleak but not much worse than ESB.

The seriousness of it was the reason I liked it so much

Reviews of Star Wars movies often focus on things the average fan of the franchise just doesn't care about. TFA didn't gross over $930 million domestically because people were hoping for Shakespearean dialogue or character development. Most people could also see that the plot bore similarities to A New Hope... but again, who really cares? I personally think some critics resent how immune the Star Wars franchise is it at the box office to what they write about it.

Question to those who have seen it. What did you think of...

CGI Tarkin and CGI Leia? I still think it looks a bit "uncanny valley" but it's pretty amazing how far the technology has come over the years. It's like, I KNEW it was CGI (obviously) but I just went with it, much like the way you know Yoda is a puppet but you don't care. It's pretty obvious that eventually we're going to get 100% digital humans and not be able to tell the difference.

I think it's awesome. If you never seen any of the movies before you would have no idea it wasn't real.

I thought it was pretty convincing, personally. Although it took me out of the moment trying to figure out if it was a body double completely CG. Then I started wondering who gets paid for the likeness.

My guess is that it was a body double and the face was digitally composited onto it.

I heard on a Star Wars podcast his estate is getting credit/compensated.

Apparently, a lot of people that had never seen them and didn't know Cushing had passed away didn't even realize it was CGI. It was by far the best facial replication CGI I've ever seen.

I thought it was pretty good but I've heard reviews that called it video game esque.

I'm about 8 years away from playing console games. Didn't realize they had gotten that good.

Cushing and Leia CGI were pretty good. My parent's couldnt tell the difference. My dad was like "Isn't that guy dead?"..

Some of Tarkin's scenes you could tell it was fake and others it was really well done. Leia's appearance was the worst of the two IMO.

See, I thought Tarkin's was far more noticeable because Peter Cushing had such a unique facial structure that was difficult to replicate. I personally noticed his far more than Leia's.

I thought the CGI was crazy how good it was. It was necessary too, so I don't get the griping. It was a lot better than having some look alike, that doesn't really look alike..if you know what I mean. The characters were uncanny in that they "moved" like GMT and LO/S. Great job.

I don't think they were 100% digital. I think they were live actors with Tarkin and young Leia's faces digitally composited over them. At least that's what it looked like to me.
