Yeah well... high school kids don't ignore it. The best players keep going to USC because they know that's where the best players go. They're on FRICKIN PROBATION right now... and are still killing us in recruiting.
.
I've read many of your posts... please tell me you are kidding here. You're alot better than that.
There are many reasons greater than that one for why USC gets great recruits.
First and foremost, LA has one of the highest concentrations of 4-5* players in the country and USC has historically gotten their pick of them. They can EASILY get commits from more than 10 players per year and not drive 100 miles round trip.
Second, USC is alone... not just in the Pac 10 but from Kansas west. They have absolutely no real competition when it comes to history, prestige, etc. Two schools would occupy the second tier historically- Washington and UCLA. Cal and Oregon are late comers.
How many storied programs do you have competing for the talent in the eastern half of the country? To make a comparison... you'd have to imagine Bama followed by Georgia Tech and FSU... then no one else being close to that level historically in the whole southeast.
Third, it is LA and southern CA. Some people just love it out there.
Finally, the school, program, and facilities don't hurt their case at all.
Momentum or whatever you want to call it is a very small part of why USC is successful.
