Stephen Hargis...Please release your "info"

Yep. I'm going to take my boys to the games next year and see what happens.

wtf are you going to do about it? Besides whine, that is. Please. Let us all know that you aren't going to sit and "watch it crumble". Tell us how you are going to help.

And don't listen to me if you'd rather not. Get your info from the gruden forum. Better yet, don't ask me a question, if you don't want the answer, and especially if you don't know why you should listen to me in the first place.

I can not do any thing about it now, other than voice my opinion.

I will not tow the company line when it is wrong. I do that in my job.

I am young (relatively) and will be fairly wealthy one day. I might even take the job as Academic Chancellor myself when I can't run, or jump anymore and my gut catches up with my age. That will be a loooong time. You are right though, in the mean time I do have better things to do with my life.

If I do, I hope I can do my part to restore this program to where it belongs if Butch does not do it first.

Forget about gruden stuff. That just turns every conversation into a mudhole. In your opinion was this handled well? If you were evaluating hart on the entire thing as a whole, not just hiring butch jones, would you be pleased? Better yet, if we go thru this again, would you be comfortable with hart spearheading the search?

The only reason anyone wouldn't ask questions about this fiasco is that they are afraid of what they would learn. This whole interviewing process and the media around it was rough.....at best. There is a ray of hope though. At least Butch Jones is probably the smartest one of the whole bunch. he knew what was best and what he wanted. So he did what it took ti get it.

He does want to be here it seems. I really like him actually from the videos and stuff I have seen.

And on the cheap (18 million). With a low buyout. I hope he wins enough ballgames for the Academics to get the money back. The money Hart and Cheek used to leave the reservation with. I wonder if faculty realized they were duped.

I predict 7-5 first year, 8-4 second year, 8-4 third year. I would say that is a win at three mil a year. Won't fill up the coffers though.

Gruden was in play, and Hargis is old school, so don't expect him to give up any sources. Also, he said it was unlikely that Gruden would end up here after last Friday because the administration screwed up so badly.

Doesn't shock me, especially when I hear rumors that Cheek interviewed Strong and not Hart? Sounds like a bunch of incompetent bozos at positions of power.

I trust the people that graduated from UT, the people that played at UT and the people that give money to UT.

Hart and Cheek are Gov't employees that draw a paycheck. Unproven ones at that.

If, and I say if, they went against the people that keep UT from being state funded then they should be evaluated. The faculty needs to ask Cheek when they can expect the money back, and the fans need to ask Hart what he has done for UT athletics lately and how he will pay the bills six years from now when the 18 million is gone.

I too am glad to have someone who is happy to have this job and appreciates the tradition here. But my question is are you satisfied with harts handling of this whole thing? Not the end result. My 8 yr old son could have hired him at this point. He backed out on colorado with hopes of coming here. Im not confident in harts ability bssed on the entire process and the public perception of the university now.

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb. Pretending to care about football. Charlie did not come because he knew something smelled wrong. It was either the Academics Chancellor conducting his interview or Lamonte's wig when he paid him a visit shortly after.

Yeah. Your right. At least your not just a yes man. I am loyal to the volunteers, not dave hart or jimmy cheek. I will always support this team in every sport and one way of doing that is making sure there are checks and balances and some sort of transparency with decisions made regarding our public university.

I bet that charlie strong was worried over our academic acceptance issues with student athletes that FL, UA, LSU, GA, and SC dont have.

I would wait to talk crumbling until the guy doesn't win championships in a few years. He has at every other job, there is no indication at all he will not do the same here.

Spin it how you want. Here is the other side, he is one of 5 coaches at BCS schools to lose to Dooley, and it wasn't even a close game.

Lol. Maybe not for you but we are talking about football players here. Sometimes they need a little help.

Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe his first year at Bama. Coaches lose games they aren't suppose to lose sometimes. One game doesn't define whether a coach is good or bad.

Saban had already won a NC at LSU at that point. You should take a gander at BJs record at Cinncy, the last 2 years. Look at the W-L records for the teams he beat, and the W-L records of teams he lost too. I am even throwing out the first year that he went 4 and 8 after Kelly went 12-1 the year before. Makes these BE championships not so pretty.

Not exactly sure what you are try to convey with this statement. UT is and always has been a publicly funded (state) university. The $18M you mention is, I'm assuming, the 3 year hold on the annual $6M donation from athletics to academics. That is basically extra money that will be "shifted" into the reserve athletic fund at the end of each fiscal year. The athletic department's annual operating budget will pay CBJ's salary as normal.

That makes it even better. You seem like a cool cat to me, you can laugh at yourself and don't take this board too seriously.

It absolutely does. I enjoy the boards.

The Gruden threads were a hoot. Did you see my OJGWABL thread?

Official Jon Gruden Wardrobe and Body Language Thread.

It was a trap to catch all the trolls that would come into the Gruden threads and make fun of us.

Instead of bugging us in the Gruden thread, they would all go and just talk about how stupid the OJGWABLT was while they were posting in it.

Worked like a charm.

Ohh well, we tried. Most of us Grudenites knew from the get go that it was nothing more than a grassroots campaign with some people who loved UT flaming it and a guy that had UT ties and wanted to come here but only if the money for the best staff was there . He did not want to come here and be hamstrung by the AD and academics and lose either. That is why he is a winner.

He refuses, even if his family wants it, to put himself in a losing position.

That is what went down on Nov 30, three days after the first mention of Gruden and UT in the Knoxville media that Gruden had cancelled a meeting with Hart.

He knew then that the support would not be there to ensure winning and he would not come with a chance of losing.

It was said early on that Hart and Cheek would be tough to force into a massive hire, even if the money was there.

You can't blame us for trying to make something great happen.
