Super Regionals - OTHER GAMES - Discussion

First time seeing them.
They should not be taken lightly. Probably a team that could have been in contention for a regional host had they been healthy. Now that they are healthy they are winning games. Ran right through the Tucson regional and now giving the best ACC team all they can handle.

Just a random comment about start times. 10 AM CDT is a stupid time of the morning for a baseball game to start. Now, having said that, I suppose with all of the supers being in the eastern time zone, with the exception of TxAM, it might be difficult to please everyone.

No, 32 regional hosts. Still have 64 teams but each regional is 2 teams. Then you could actually pair the overall 1 seed with the 64 seed. But this makes too much sense for the NCAA to implement so it will never happen.
I’m all for that but when it gets to Omaha he wants it to stay the same…nah..…I’d be for only 32 teams making it in and the entire thing playing out in a best 2 of 3 format…outside of that this format is fine…you can’t lose a single game at any stage and your season be over as is is currently

Yeah needs to be 2 out of three in every round. Would be perfect imo.

Guess what would drive you nuts…in Kentucky high school ball there is no class system…only one state champion which is great…but from regionals through title game it’s all single elimination…state champs have to win 7 in a row every year…hahaha

yep I read it wrong... they would need to add another week in the schedule... yea more baseball!

But can’t do that with 64 teams…32 you could…I don’t mind it now though…you can lose 4 games and still be the national champion…
Why wouldn’t 64 work? Every round gets cut in half. The postseason would be 6 weeks instead of 4 weeks though. So the regular season would either have to be trimmed back or conference tournaments go away.

64
32
16
8
4
2

That’s why….cuts into summer and draft etc…unless you did away with conference tournaments…32 is magic number in that format..Omaha would go away as well…csnt be a three weekend tournament there…

Yeah that’s stupid. Surprised people higher up haven’t decided to change that. But it is Kentucky we are talking about…

In the day semi state at the round of 16 was best 2 of 3…to advance to state and final eight…now they did away with it…16 regions….single elimination…then state tournament is 16 regional winners single elimination…spread over two weeks 2 games each week..so technically only need two big time pitchers
