Superman vs Batman movie coming in 2015!

So the Dark Knight Trilogy got good reviews because it is Marvel?

Different times now in regards to what critics percive that they want to see in a Superhero film!

Saw an interesting thought earlier. If The Dark Knight had come out tonight instead of Dawn of Justice, would we be seeing the same reviews? That it's an overly dark, needlessly moody take on a superhero movie?

I believe we would. Batman Begins came out in 2005, 4 years before Iron Man (2008) the first real Marvel film and it changed how some people (critics) want to see their heroes on the big screen almost back to the Donner Superman years. A brightly colored fun outgoing hero who makes jokes & quips.

Take the last CACW trailer that introduces Spider-Man. its supposed to be serious film or at least the source material is we have the heroes facing off and Iron Man looks up and say "Hey Underoos" instead of a serious introduction to Spider-Man we basically get hey underwear kid!

Take one of the critics problems with MOS and apparently in BvS was the wanton destruction of Metropolis. last night I rewatched one of the first DC Animated features Superman Doomsday (2007) of course based on the Death of Superman story-line.

In it the battle between Superman & Doomsday causes massive damage several buildings collapse (are we supposed to believe that no one was killed?) ad in the final scene Superman crashes Doomsday back to earth from space and and on impact creates a massive crater that takes out several city blocks and shows the shockwave breaking windows across the city. Then later in the film the clone Superman fights the military & then the real Superman when he returns and once again buildings destroyed. Do people not realize that when you have people that powerful things are going to get destroyed it happens in the comic books.

That is one problem I had with Avengers in the New York fight it looks like they only fought over a couple of city blocks with little damage!

So any reviews from those that have seen it?

Just got back from it and all I can say is Holy Crap that movie was awesome!!!!!!

9/10
A little slow at first but it picks up and hold on to your seat is all I can say.
Best Batman/Bruce Wayne period
Best Superman more than makes up for MOS
Eisenberg (sp) is the one I thought would suck and he freaking nailed Luther

Just got back. The movie is definitely slow at times, but not terribly so. I liked the darker, more gritty batman. Wonder woman was awesome. Overall its a solid movie, worth seeing.

that bane was tight

Way better than the Tom Hardy version.

And personally, I think it's a toss-up between Heath Ledger's Joker and Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze. Even if you compare their more memorable quotes, they stack up pretty evenly.

Ledger's Joker:
"My father was... a drinker and a fiend. One night he goes off... crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn’t like that, not one bit. So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. He turns to me and he says 'WHY SO SERIOUS?'. He comes at me with the knife 'why so serious?' He sticks the blade in my mouth. 'Let's put a smile on that face.' and............... why so serious?"

Mr. Freeze:
"Let's kick some ice!"

Green Lantern was released a year before Avengers!

I guess you are right. It came out the same summer as Capt Am and Thor.

Anyway... The point is The Dark Knight would still get good reviews because they are just good movies. It has nothing to do with Avengers. X-Men DoFP has a darker tone and it was well reviewed.

There is no conspiracy or agenda by critics against this movie. They just don't like it.

Saw the movie last night. It was good. But I feel that they are rushing this justice league business too soon. I'm still trying to acclimate to Ben affleck, and when I see aqua man I see Khal Drogo and it's just weird for me at least.

I really enjoyed it, saw it last night also.. I go in with an open mind and not really a comic geek so I understand how some peeps get upset when a movie doesn't follow the comic script..
doomsday was he always this big or monster size cause if I remember he was like normal not like this giant monster figure in the comics or cartoons.. Really enjoyed lex and thought some stuff was corny but I think it turned out well.. Ok forgive my ignorance on this but how does Superman come back..

While I haven't seen the film yet! Yes, In the comics Doomsday was bigger than Superman!

Batman is dark. Superman is not. Neither is Wonder Woman.

Exactly. Superman's character is the pinnacle of morality, justice, etc. etc. Nothing dark about him, or the world he's from.

Batman has always been a hero that works from the shadows and always teeters on losing his morality and what makes him a hero in the first place. Definitely one of the darker characters in the comic universe.

Have any of you went and read some of the Rotten reviews on Rotten tomatoes?

Most of them ramble and don't make a lot of since in why they say it's a bad film!

A few quotes!
I found myself thinking horrid, unspeakable thoughts during the screening. Thoughts like, 'come back Joel Schumacher, all is forgiven!' and 'maybe David Hasselhoff's Nick Fury wasn't so bad.' What kind of superhero movie DOES THAT to a man?

The sandbox they are given to romp around in is stupid, stupid stupid.

Impressive as it is in scale, Batman v Superman is exhausting. Snyder wants you to feel the pain when the two heroes are clobbering each other, and you will. If that's what you crave from movies, have at it.

At the end of the UK press screening there were pockets of cheers from the crowd and I literally could not hold in an exclamation of "Are you ******* serious?

A loud, cluttered, joyless muddle that might be described as Snyderissimo-which might please DC and diehard fans but will probably put off those accustomed to the breezier tone of the Marvel universe

Is this a serious post?

When Ghostbusters gets raked over the coals are you going to bash the critics then too?

FWIW while still much higher, the audience score has been steadily declining over past couple of days too.

FWIW while still much higher, the audience score has been steadily declining over past couple of days too.

More like plummeting. It's down to 7.7, which is a big drop considering there were something like 18,000 votes (IIRC) that made it an 8.5 the other day. that means the last 45,000 audience members have given it like a 7.3 on average.
