So many people spend their lives searching for the purpose of life. The reason for human life is simply to glorify God. That is also the simplest way to decide if something is wrong or right. Many things are not mentioned in the Bible because they are "new". If you simply ask yourself if an action brings glory to Him it can generally help you make the decision. I believe the number 1 stumbling block for Christians (myself included) as they try to improve their walk with him is self denial. I am trying to make it to a place where I can truly "give Him the keys" to my life and let Him drive. To get up in the morning and pray "Lord whatever your will is for me please give me the strength and wisdom to do it to the best of my ability. Help me to put away my own fleshly desires and seek to only glorify you this day. Please keep me from sin and draw me closer to you. If I accomplish nothing else today help me to know you a little better and love you a little more." I fail him every single day of my life and he loves me anyway. He is my. Father. He is the author of forgiveness and love. I draw a lot of my strength from my wife. She is a prayer warrior.she gets up at 6 am every day though she doesn't work outside the home and gets on her knees in my dining room to beg God for guidance and protection for our whole family. She led me to Christ in 2003 and has been a constant source of spiritual inspiration. I believe if more men had a good Christian woman behind them the world would be an entirely different place.

The Rutherford Institute has appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court on behalf of John Freshwater, a Christian teacher who was fired for keeping religious articles in his classroom and for using teaching methods that encourage public school students to think critically about the schools science curriculum, particularly as it relates to evolution theories. Freshwater, a 24-year veteran in the classroom, was suspended by the Mount Vernon City School District Board of Education in 2008 and officially terminated in January 2011. The School Board justified its actions by accusing Freshwater of improperly injecting religion into the classroom by giving students reason to doubt the accuracy and/or veracity of scientists, science textbooks and/or science in general. The Board also claimed that Freshwater failed to remove all religious articles from his classroom, including a Bible.
Despite objective evidence demonstrating Freshwaters consistent excellence as an eighth-grade science teacher for over 20 years, and despite his immaculate employment record, Freshwater came under intense scrutiny following a 2008 incident in which a common classroom science experiment with a Tesla coil used safely by other teachers for over 20 years allegedly produced a cross-shaped mark on one students arm.
While the Referee who investigated this incident ultimately determined that speculation and imagination had pushed reality aside, community hysteria resulting from rumors about Freshwater and the incident prompted the [School] Board to launch a full-scale inquisition into Freshwaters teaching methods and performance. This sweeping critique focused entirely on trace evidence of Freshwaters religious faith which allegedly appeared in the classroom. On January 10, 2011, the Board adopted a Resolution terminating Freshwaters employment contract based upon a recommendation issued by Referee R. Lee Shepherd, Esq., on January 7, 2011 that Freshwater be terminated for good and just cause.
Academic freedom was once the bedrock of American education. That is no longer the state of affairs, as this case makes clear. ... What we need today are more teachers and school administrators who understand that young people dont need to be indoctrinated. Rather, they need to be taught how to think for themselves.
The [School] Board's actions constitute a violation of the First Amendment academic freedom rights of both Freshwater and of his students, of the First Amendment's Establishment Clause, and of Freshwater's right to Equal Protection under the Fourteenth Amendment. Because of its significant implications for academic freedom in public schools and the continued vitality of teachers' First Amendment right to openly practice and discuss their religious faith, the case is one of monumental public concern. As no reviewing court has yet examined these critical civil liberty components of this case, Freshwater prays that this Court will grant his petition and undertake that essential analysis.
The Institutes mission is twofold: to provide legal services in the defense of religious and civil liberties and to educate the public on important issues affecting their constitutional freedoms.
Whether our attorneys are protecting the rights of parents whose children are strip-searched at school, standing up for a teacher fired for speaking about religion or defending the rights of individuals against illegal search and seizure, The Rutherford Institute offers assistanceand hopeto thousands.
Marcus and Neo I have really enjoyed this. Might sound weird but I know but I am curious.
What is yall vision of Heaven?
Lastly what are your views on the Death Penalty as Christians?
Nothing may happen without God's permission.
The fact that He allows evil to happen only shows that
He gives us the opportunity to choose between good
and evil in the hope that we will choose good over evil.

To assume that the speciation of microscopic lifeforms
proves that all species evolved from other species is a
giant logical leap. It's a non-sequitur. It just does not
follow that observing speciation proves that all species
speciate, much less that all species are descended from
one single common ancestor. The theory of evolution is
built upon a mountain of such logical fallacies.

Commandment #6 says not to murder, the interpretation in the KJV is not a good one as it says "kill".....a lawful death sentence is not murder. A Christian being for the death penalty in no way contridicts a person being against murder. There are many scriptures that support a "law of the land" death sentence.

Interesting. Is it not a good one because it doesn't say what you want it to say? I'm not even reading the KJV. I'm a Catholic.
The church has made it more than clear that if any possible alternative to defending the lives of others is available, it should be used to avoid the death penalty.
I wasn't asked for my opinion, but as a Christian, I'd like to share mine.
My vision of heaven is something like the movie What Dreams May Come. That's just what I have in my head. Then again, I realize that a place like heaven is unimaginable for someone like myself. It's hard to submit and simply exercise the mystery of faith, but that's what you've gotta do when thinking about heaven. I know I can't possibly fathom what it really is like. I just have faith that it is a paradise, and it is far enough for me to not fear death when that time approaches me...hopefully years down the line.
As for the death penalty, I have trouble seeing how Christians can support it. I find it especially strange when fellow pro-lifers are so staunchly in favor of capital punishment. If you are going to act like you care about the Ten Commandments, how can you ignore number 6? Is there a 6a that I don't know about, that says "Thou Shalt Not Kill unless the dude did something really bad...then it's okay."
This is the statement that I gave you the answer to....I did not give my personal belief, I am for it by the way, just the reason why Christians can chose to support it.
The definition of "kill" and "murder are different, that is where so many people get confused and people that are against the death penalty twist the meaning of the commandment.......if someone is attacking your wife with a knife or gun and you think they are about to hurt her, you are standing there with a gun and can stop him by shooting him, would you do it? I know I would and it would not be a murder therefore not against commandment #6.
Are you against a justified war? With your statement, you HAVE to be.
You clearly didn't read my statement. I said, "if any possible alternative to defending the lives of others is available, it should be used to avoid the death penalty."
If someone was attacking my wife, and I felt like shooting the guy was the only way to stop him, I'm sure I'd do it. If I was a good enough shot, though, I'd like to believe that I'd just try to slow him down by taking out a knee or something.
Being a Christian is more than just reading the Ten Commandments, too. There was a famous death penalty given out in about the year 33AD. We are against that now!
I read it and can somewhat agree but that is not what I was responding to....like I said, I was responding to the "don't see how an Christian can support" statement.....it is a fact that justified killing is fully acceptable in the scriptures......I agree that the ten commandments are not the end all be all in Christianity, heck only one of the 10 is even a salvation issue if you come right down to it, you raised the commandments issue not me......that famous death penalty is the "feel good" issue that I am refering to as the "whip" the Catholic Church is using to stir the members to be against the death penalty, and obviously, it is working in your case.
Can you give me one scripture that tells us that a lawful death sentence is wrong?
(By the way, the death sentence in 33 AD came from God through man, there was nothing any man could have done to stop it.)
That is an interesting concept. I mean that seriously, not in the sarcastic way I did before.
JC was sent to die for man's sins, but we spend Stations of the Cross Masses and Good Friday Masses every year just being disgusted at the way Christ was treated. It was why he was sent, so in that sense, it seems like no man could have done anything to stop it. Still, out of love for Christ, it's hard to not wish someone had done something to stop it.
As for the biblical evidence to support my stance on capital punishment...I'm no theologian. I honestly don't know every verse in the bible to support every idea that I support. I do know that it speaks against vengeance many times, as it does for forgiveness. Is it Matthew where it says that if you don't forgive your neighbor or their trespasses, neither will the Father forgive you?
You seem to be a really cool cat. We have a lot in common as far as the way we pursue knowledge. I hope that video is online. I got my dvds on ebay. They are real cheap bc they are bootleg. Dr. Hovind says at the end to feel free to copy them and distribute. He actually has a theme park in Fla with a lot of cool stuff....a human femur like 4 ft long, dino skeletons, petrified stuff. Research trees that were petrified upside down. There are many which pass3 or 4 different strata supposedly millions of years apart. In order for that to have occurred the tree would have to stand upside down for millions of years while everything else died and turned to limestone....or it could have been Noahs flood. Did you know that almost every culture in the world has a flood story (ark and all) cultures that were completely separated for thousands of years. I highly recommend the whole series at the high school level. I think its called CSE 101 by Dr. Kent hovind. Please spend the 5 or 10 dollars to get it on ebay if you can't find it online. If you think its a waste of your time after watching it you can mail them to me and I will buy them. I need new copies anyway. I give you my word on that.
