Tennessee has only one black assistant coach?!

The OP may as well just dropped the N-bomb instead.

Racist, ignorant people are the trash of this nation.

Should've gotten Charlie Strong......
I know I would have been more receptive had I known who was next on Hart's list but at that point I was still hoping the Grumors would pan out.

Here's how it is: we're going to suck pretty bad for the next few years. Hopefully, we suck bad enough that Cheek and Hart are replaced and the UTAD is moved out from under the chancellor's control. When CBJ starts to flame out for the third stright year in 2015 we should finally be in a position to hire the kind of staff we really need to get back on top of the conference.

CBJ already sux at coaching at this level. What will you say if this team and staff win multipl games that they are not favored in this year and are a surprise team in the sec? More complaining from your end that in his first year he did not win an sec title or a congratulations to him and job well done?

Don't think many people are afraid to hire black people. This isn't the 60s grandpa so if you can catch up to the late 90s you would understand that black people are being hired, brother. You do know we have a black president right? Coach Jones hired the staff he knew. There are fewer blacks than whites in coaching. Want proof, check the NFL for your black coaches. There is just fewer in number. Btw, James Franklin says hi.

Also, give Vandy credit for not only hiring a black head coach but a gay one at that. Two for one package.
Here is the type of ignorance that will not only loose recruits but separate a fan base. As I said before as a black man, most of you have no clue! And as the Uncle of a a recruit coming up in the 2014 class whom mother is a single black mother raising a kid that made a 24 on the act and an RN! You people have no clue on what threads like this do to recruiting, I have been a vfl for 30 years of my existence and this thread is why some of us black folks as y'all should say should not even get involved!

Trust me when I say this guys and gals! We do not have recent success to sell this university. We have the best facilities money can buy! No recent winning record, no recent sec significant win, no recent championships and we are rebuilding a program with great tradition but not in these recruits memories. Now we are setting our self back another 4 years if we do not get this hire right! Black or white it has to be a huge hire that can get into the homes of the nations top prospects. Records, administration, requirements for classes, hey Tenn! We screwed the pooch from with in we have to get this hire RIGHT!

No matter whether you like blacks or not and judging from some comments I believe some here would cheer for them on Sat.and that is about it! But 92% of the nations top recruits are black so we have to have something to get to these kids!

Give me your honest opinion.

Do you think a black kid coming out of high school is concerned with how many black coaches are on staff?

Is a black recruit more likely to commit to a black coach?

Every other member of the SEC has four or more black coaches and we're down to one.
Butch has the good 'ole boy network going. I'd say there's a 99.9 percent chance the new running backs coach is black and should be for multiple reasons all of which are legit.

Playing the racist card is very sad.

Not trying to sound racist as some but as for myself and my sister, I would say no it does not matter! It is the school and to better yourself, fans like some on here make it hard for the inner city type kids. Like some of the big recruits you see on TV come from highly populated black areas so for them I would say yes, a huge difference!! KIDS HAVE TO BE ABLE TO RELATE and the program has to be able to relate also and understand what you have to do to land those big recruits!!

That's kinda what I figured. For some yes and for some no. I have a friend who is convinced that we need at least three black coaches on staff for recruiting. I would hope that kids choose the program but I know that is not always the case. :hi:

You confuse me. You call others racist that say it matters? You then say it doesn't matter to you. Then you go on to say with some kids and parents it does matter.

I didn't bother reading through all these pages. Just did some spot reading along the way to get the gist of things. Here's my opinion (as little as that is worth).

My guess is that the young men that go to play at Bama could care less how many coaches there are of what race. The only name they REALLY care about is Saban. Why? Because he is the HC for the hottest team in College Football right now.

Win and they will come. THAT is all that really matters.

Please correct me if I misunderstood what you are trying to say. I believe that you are saying that a lot of black recruits and their parents place less importance on the state of the football program at a school, and the type of education that the recruit will receive, than the color of skin of the man who recruits them.

If what you say is correct, it would seem that the recruits and their parents are too stupid and shallow to make a decision on the future of the young man.

Makes sense to me.

Well stupid or not, most are trying to get there kid the next level. they must have done something right to get their kids looked at by top schools. they must have done something right by having you watch their kids on tv. they must have done something right because lots of them are making millions in the NFL. so before you call some stupid may need to watch what you say because the one stupid may have opened the mouth to call another stupid.

here is something for your to remember. It is better to be perceived to be a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!! thanks

EXACTLY and when you are not you have to relate to get the kids in until you get your brand established to recruit itself!!

I can honestly say that the White recruits have more input on the selection of schools then the Black kids do. I know that the parents of a Black recruit have a biiger voice with there sons selection. Now, that is just what I have seen in the recruiting end of things so dont get upset with my opinion.:salute:

Pretty simple i was the only black in my elemetary school first through 5 th grade, never saw other blacks unless in church or til i got to junior high. Played football hs and some college at jax state. So as far as myself i have had what you call diversity. so it does not matter to me white or black and like some families that live in other diverse areas it may not matter!!

Now as for those kids or families that have not had opportunities to be diverse there are trust issues can you trust a different person that is not the same color of your skin. will they look after the best interest of your child away from home. those are things they wonder when your brand is not stamped!! Alabama is machine it recruits itself, oklahoma, oregon, florida we have to get established, BUILD RELATIONSHIPS that is the key and you have to relate to build those relationships. i did not turn this racial only trying to make some see from the other color of ones skin side. I never grew up in the inner city nor in a black neighborhood but i have been on the bad side of both. Not white person and parents accused of raising kids to be white!! go figure!!

I can agree with that to an extent. I personally think that relating to a young man in the "football sense" is a little different than relating because of skin color though. I may be completely wrong though.

I like to try and give these young men and their families the credit of making decisions that are best for their futures (ie...trying to get to the NFL, or whatever else they are looking forward to doing with their lives). Neither of which should have anything to do with the color of the skin of the person telling them about their options.

That is JMHO though, and as I said, is quite possibly not the reality of things.
