Very easily could have been about their opponent in some of the loses. Was looking at our next opponent Liberty. They've played a very tough early schedule. They've only won four games and those were against their weakest opponents. They've been all over the place in the losses. Lost to Texas by 18, got blasted by Gonzaga by 45. The very next day they only lost to Louisville by 9. They got spanked by Alabama by 25 but only lost to #3 NC State by 13. Hard to know what to think about them.
They didn't fire Walz for it last year. About the same time of year, but Louisville lost by 18. Hell, Holly Warlick lost to Chattanooga in her first game as a head coach and ended up coaching 6 more years. It took going .500 in the SEC a loss to Vandy at home, a chance at not making the NCAA tournament, and a first-round loss to fire her for Tennessee to get rid of her. As for the SEC, currently, the top 8 teams in the SEC are 102 wins on 12 losses. The SEC may not be as far down as everyone thinks.
Went to school with their coach. Better coach than we haveWas looking at our next opponent Liberty. They've played a very tough early schedule. We have not played an SEC game yet so there are no SEC standings and The Big 12, Pac 12 and SEC are the only three conferences to have every school still with a winning record. Tennessee just happened to do this without their All -American Candidate available for most games. Give Tennessee Rickea Jacksons 20 points and 10 rebounds and all of the attention she draws and we would probably be sitting with 1-2 losses rather than 5.sadly not even making the top 8 only magnifies the issues, LV coming in second to last in the SEC standings. But a pretty strong spin.
And the question was, was Tennessee in the 8. No they are second to last. Might want to let the SEC know to rephrase the term for your liking. We have not played an SEC game yet so there are no SEC standings and The Big 12, Pac 12 and SEC are the only three conferences to have every school still with a winning record. It’s hard to lose your all american (the one who ur offense runs off of) and still win a lot of games verse ranked teams. All of that is good in theory. 20 points and 10 rebounds from Jackson still wouldn’t account for the poor defense, especially along the 3 pt line. It is sad that fans are actually still using Jackson’s absence to explain the poor start. The rest of the team needs to pick up the pace. And coaching as well.
Many teams do. Tennessee is no different . Take Knecht from the boys and they struggle to win games. Take Edey from purdue they wouldn’t win a lot of games. Clarke from iowa. Juju Watkins from USC. Brink from Stanford. I can go on and on.Still a team game? As good as RJ, this a reflection on the staff putting the roster together. Can’t live and die by one player.
then it becomes a question of recruiting and depthMany teams do. Tennessee is no different . Take Knecht from the boys and they struggle to win games. Take Edey from purdue they wouldn’t win a lot of games. Clarke from iowa. Juju Watkins from USC. Brink from Stanford. I can go on and on.
